And they have circled this game on their schedule because we're a name team on national tv.

They probbably have quite a few games circled on their calendar this year. They have the toughest schedule in the country according to some pundits. How's this for an opening slate:

at Syracuse (always tricky)
Boise State (Ian Johnson - enough said)
OSU
at UCLA (return ten starters on a D that made USC's offense look like hell)
vs USC (close game last year in the vein of OSU-Illinois, 'cept SC was at home)

I think most top 10 teams would go 4-1 at best through that stretch. I think we'll be their third biggest game in their opening five.

Only USC will be a bigger game. UCLA is more important though since it's a conference game.

They are staring at a 2-3 start AT BEST. More like 1-4. 2 or 3 of the losses could get ugly. I would say it sucks for their fans but they were a pompus group of knobslobbers in 2003 so fuck 'em.

I think this game will be closer than people expect, but the strength of our defense should prevail.

I agree. I guess some forget that this is the first road game of the season, with a new offense taking form. Tressel will be playing tight to the vest in this one, I don't expect to see the margin any larger than 10 points.

All depends on how UW is against the run over an entire game imo. Look at WSU, or Texas tech during 2002. We didn't score a lot because we were a high powered offense. We scored a lot because JT will literally call the same run play 30-40 times in a game if you can't stop it.

If UW can't physically handle the run game(and I'm leaning toward the opinion they cannot) they could very well be on the wrong end of a lopsided one.

If the young QB makes bad mistakes in his first road test or Beanie gets fumbleitis then it could very well be a closer than expected kind of game. Bottom line to me is we'd have to help them keep it close, if we don't I don't think UW has the athletes to stay with us long.

I originally was very leery of this game from long experience of seeing OSU on the west coast but the more detailed look I take at UW, they just aren't very good, very experienced or very deep. They will need help from most teams they play in order to win I think.
