Game Thread Ohio State 3, Southern Cal 35 (Sept. 13)

I don't think it was fair for Corso to assert the Buckeyes don't have any playmakers on the team without Chris Wells. What, Raymond Small isn't a playmaker? He could break 1 or 2 to the house in the game. I hate that whole gameday team, BTW. Turdstreit isn't as clueless but for what he lacks in ineptitude he compensates for with immense bias.

The Ohio game and speed "disadvantage" are being overblown. Naturally the team would be looking ahead to USC. I don't put much stock in that outcome whatsoever. And, as I recall, OSU's 40 times stacked up favorably to LSU's. I'd imagine the same will be the case since last time I checked....USC isn't in the SEC. SEC speed > Pac 10 speed. The issue in the Natty champ games was more lack of instincts playing the spread-option more than speed. Too many defenders reacting to one ballcarrier or the other and not enough playing assignment football. OSU still shouldn't be forced to adjust to that style because USC plays the classic spread. Therefore, it's more about OSU's DB's matching up with USC's wide receivers, and OSU's LB's matching up with USC's backs. Which I feel they project to do sufficiently. Plenty of speed at DB and pretty instinctual LB's. So USC shouldn't score more than 30, and may be held to as low as 20. The OSU WR's should make enough plays on offense and in special teams to keep the game competitive. Ultimately though, I question Boeckman's ability to be mobile enough and make plays down field with his arm. USC in a relatively close one, 7-10 point spread.

Good luck to the Buckeyes tonight.

Yep it just reaffrims what Ray Smalls said:
Something like "...At Ohio State they teach you to be a better man.....at USC its just about football..."

Regardless of whether he was "in-custody", he was charged and arrainged which means there was enough evidence, based on probable cause, that he comitted the crime. And in the State of California for there to be resistance that amounts to a felony (its usually a misdemeanor) there has to be violence and or injuries to a peace officer.

Look up section 69 of the California Penal Code. Guilty or not I think a coach, and I don't care what school or game, needs to at least suspend the player for something. Had he been in his dorm doing what he's supposed to be doing instead of hanging out with the thugs in Colton then would have never happened. Just my .02 cents

GO BUCKS!!!!

I read it, so? I guess he broke the cops nose like one of the other posters said, and they released him at the scene to be charged days later? Come on Are you kidding me? HE WASNT ARRESTED! He was detained at the scene, then released. Several other people were arrested! This whole thing stinks. You cant tell me that if he did resist, he would EVER be released at the scene! NO WAY!

First of all, some of the posts were sarcastic responses to the media glazing over this incident.

Second of all the dude got in trouble, plain and simple.

Third, who gives a [censored], the game starts in four hours. Go bucks.:oh:

You know, it really is a shame that Beanie Wells will not be playing in this game. Justin Forsett, Jonathan Stewart, and Rashard Mendenhall each had solid days against USC last year.

Forsett:
31 carries, 164 yards, 1 touchdown
2 catches, 45 yards

Mendenhall:
17 carries, 155 yards, 1 touchdown
5 catches, 59 yards

Stewart:
25 carries, 103 yards, 1 touchdown
2 catches, 21 yards

To me, USC's greatest weakness is it's run defense. They have been run over every single time they have played against an elite running back over the last few years, if you go back even farther. In a way, USC plays as many elite running backs as Ohio State plays against teams that use a very efficient spread offense.

Thus, I think that Ohio State can pull off the win if they play classic old Tresselball. The defense needs to show up and contain USC's numerous weapons. They cannot make a ton of mistakes. The offense needs to take whatever the defense gives them. The special teams unit will need to have solid net punting yards and net return yards. Today, Ohio State needs to play like a team. I think they can pull it off.

27-24 Ohio State.

All the better for Boom. Break out day for the young man coming your way!

:oh:

I am just glad most of the people that already have him convicted arent judges! I have NEVER heard of anyone being detained at the scene, let go when others are arrested, and THEN get charged with a felony days later! Sounds fishy to me!

Happened to a couple friends of mine once. Underage consumption. Never taken in and thought that he was in the clear until a letter appeared at his house a couple of weeks later.

That was not a lot of fun. We were all sweating it out waiting for letters to come. Some of us got 'em... others didn't.

OK - so now we know that Wells isn't on the field.

And This. Really. Sucks.

But the game is to be played - what are keys to victory?

Time for the rest of the team to step up.

The Buckeyes aid their cause with excellent Special Teams play and an opportunistic Defense. Unconventional scores couple with steady offensive output and the Buckeyes eke out a close one in LA.

I love when guys equate imprisonment with playing football. No one is suggesting his right to freedom should be taken away based on felony charges. We're suggesting the privilege to play college football should be suspended pending the outcome of the judicial process.

The fact that you, and your coach, can't tell the difference is pathetic. Winning at all costs must be really important to you. I'll say it again - class...all the wins in the world can't buy it.
