Game Thread Ohio State 3, Southern Cal 35 (Sept. 13)

If it does turn out that USC will have to go with Mustain, that plays well into tOSU's defense. This will be a played out theme in no time. It's really a shame for Mark, I hope the kid's alright.

Edit: Some digging around pulled this out:

Sanchez, on crutches and wearing a long brace on his left leg, expressed disappointment but also relief after returning to campus and meeting with team doctors, who informed him there was no ligament, cartilage or bone damage. He will begin rehabilitation Monday and Coach Pete Carroll said the quarterback's status was day-to-day.

Injuries happen and it is terrible to hear of any kid getting hurt. Having said that is there really a huge difference between Mark and Mitch. Both are extremely capable and can lead the team to a win. With USC's defense and their loaded backfield I do not consider this a huge hit.

Just another excuse for the rest of the country to bash us by saying USC wasn't at full strength if we beat them and Sanchez doesn't start.

Either way, I hope for a good game and obviously a victory. What a story that would be if we beat USC ranked #2 and somehow maybe sCUM makes it up to #2 and possibly beat them as well! '06 all over again...!

SEC

This might be the only Ohio State game where the SEC is actually rooting for Ohio State.

If the Buckeyes win,

1. It's automatic bragging rights over USC (even if it's close).

2. USC has smacked the SEC teams it has faced recently.

3. Ohio State would still have to fight through the rest of the schedule, but it could be SEC champ vs. Ohio State in the title game again.

Wow, that's a funny story!!! Oh wait, you weren't seriously suggesting that as a possible scenario, were you?

It's like a Keystone Light commercial... wouldn't it be great if [enter crazy outlandish comment here]?

Freshman quarterback Aaron Corp stood out during the scrimmage portion of Sunday night's scrimmage before about 2,000 fans. Corp worked with the first team.
``Any time we move the ball and it's not going off the script, the defense doesn't know what we're going to do,'' Corp said. ``I did some good things.''
Mitch Mustain said he played ``average.''
``My vision's got to improve,'' he said.
USC coach Pete Carroll said the quarterbacks were under too much duress.
``It was rough,'' he said. ``We've got to help protect them better. They're progressing.''
Carroll praised some of the freshmen, including wide receiver D.J. Shoemate, who enjoyed a long run after a short catch and defensive end Malik Jackson.
``I made a big deal to the team that this is the first chance to make a big impression,'' Carroll said.

I heard someone on talk radio talking about this a few days ago. More than anything, of the Bucks win this game, it will fuel the idea that the SEC is the best conference in college football. But it was countered when they went on to say that it felt like a curse on Ohio State that their record in bowl games was what it was against the SEC, calling it "possibly the most bizarre statistic in all of sports."

Either way, in my opinion, the SEC is going to continue to trash the rest of the country.

While I think we do have the best conference in college football, the ass raping of the SEC by USC is so recent that USC is not the barometer I'd bring up if I were trying to prove it.
