I'm starting to get nervous....last night Mark May said that this Vandenburg kid had 93 touchdowns in high school and brought up how Barclay dominated us as a freshmen in the shoe. This Mark May guy is usually spot on too [/end sarcasm]

:slappy: mark mary is sure reaching now

high school stats, seriously? im sure playing at some country Iowa HS stacks up to playing against a top notch college defense in front of 100,000+ strong on the road

and Barkley dominated? 15/31 0 tds INT, such domination

not to mention Barkley has a hell of a lot more talent around him at USC than Iowa has for Vandenburg (who was 9/27 with a INT against Northwestern)

The only other reason a zone makes any sense against TP is that when a defense is in man the WR's either run the defenders off or have a easy route for blocking and TP can run wild. But when he gets outside his options for open WR's go up because he compromises the zone with his threat to run. I think things will be fine.

i dont know why people like mark may are even giving iowa a chance at winning this game...so what they have a "good" defense, who have they played, seriously? there is no way a backup quaterback like vandenburg can even play well against us the way he played against northwestern.

And there's no way OSU's 19 game winning streak would end on a TD pass from Matt F. Schaebert. :paranoid:

Welll I sure hope the team doesn 't think like you do because that type of thoughts about this Iowa team will surely make you disappointed when this is a well fought game. Will the bucks win? Most Likely, but don't sell this Iowa team short. They've overcame injuries this year and have won some big games on the road so they won't be intimidated coming in.

if uv watchd iowas last 3 games like i have, ud realize that their defense keeps them in the game, not their offense. the way our offense is rolling right now, i expect this to get outa reach and stay outa reach early for the bucks

Offense is rolling hu? We've shown great improvement i'll give you that, and we did some good things against a good PSU defense. Look at the 2002 bucks and tell me our defense didn't keep us in games but we still continued to overcome the odds and win.

If this game gets outta reach then that'd be great because that's less breathing problems for me, but this'll go much like the PSU game but with less resistance from their Offense. We'll be hard pressed to do a lot of great things against their defense. You are tremendously underestimating this Iowa team.

Not to mention Vandenburg has been practicing all week knowing he is the starter, and won't be coming in cold like he did against NW. I still think we win, because Vandenburg isn't yet the Mandenburg, but overconfidence isn't good. The key is having TP play mistake free football. He doesn't need to throw for 200+ yards, just hold on to the ball and throw where only the receiver can catch it.

I have watched a good portion of both the NW game and the Indiana game. I know their offense isn't anything special and absolutely agree that they shouldn't have much success tomorrow.

I'm not sure I follow your line of thinking, though....The Iowa defense has kept them in games when the offense has struggled. The Iowa offense is going to struggle this week with the backup QB playing. Therefore, OSU will win in a blowout?

Ehh as bad as the Iowas loss to NW was so was our loss to Purdue. Neither game shows how good/bad these teams are.

I will go 24-13 Buckeyes!

I tend to agree with this. They still have a pretty impressive defense and I hope our offensive line comes in as fired up as they were vs. Penn State. With a Rose Bowl on the line, you would think so.

Our loss was on the road...Iowa's was at home. Significant difference. Also, since our loss at Purdue, both our defense and offense--but especially the defense--has been playing "pissed off". Fifth straight Big Ten title and a Rose Bowl bid are the chum in the bloody water tomorrow...check for dorsal fins on Heyward, Gibson, and Williams.
