Shades of Florida 06 where everyone knew if you hit Chris Leak he would fade and they never went after him. I questioned it then and I question it now. There's a reason everyone blitzes rookies... because it works.

Agreed... I thought the team executed fairly well what they were given...
I question what they were given.

Anyone surprised?

My thoughts.

I like that OSU has 2 dependable backs but one gets 29 carries the other 13. From what I've seen that number should be closer to being reversed. Neither is Beanie and neither is Antonio Pittman either.

The coaches were obviously protecting Pryor from having to win the game. The obviously were worried about him losing it for them. That's the only rational explanation for the play calling combined with not wanting Pryor to take hits because of injuries. But I'm still confused.

Boom is the more dependable grinder back...Saine only needs about 15 carries and with good blocking he'll pop a few runs. The blocking was OUTSTANDING on Saine's 2 TD's. On Boom's TD it was all muscle and will and grit and determination and the funky gunk that is under your fingernails and....yeah just beast mode. I love the Wild Buckeye!

My thoughts, as briefly as possible:

Pryor: Gritty.
Sanzenbacher: Great blocking performance.
O-line: Yeomen.
RBs: Fuck the haters.
Homan: Great INT.
Russell: Great INT.
Worthington: Play of the season.
Chekwa: Shake it off.
Kick coverage: Brutal.
Thoma: Rough day.
Barclay: YES!!!

I've skimmed thru the thread going back to the 4th quarter, and it's like listening to my fiancee Freak The Fuck Out over the playcalling. Was the playcalling vanilla? Yeah, but it was working. This team was at worst getting the job done running the football, and at times was downright dominant. I thought it was a great performance in that department, and it was needed. I think Pryor is a little more dinged up than we are being told, and he also took a cut on his throwing hand. Some bad luck and poor special teams made the playcalling look a lot worse than it was. If not for that, the Buckeyes might've ended up covering, as strange as that may seem.

Matt Millen caught a case of the Gus Johnsons tonight. Him and McDonough took this Vandenberg thing and blew it up into Hoosiers, The Mighty Ducks and Air Bud 2 all in one. That's not to take anything away from Vandenberg - he did better than I think most of us expected - got really lucky a couple times, but did pretty well for himself overall.

Overall, I'm just happy to see this team go to a Rose Bowl. This is only the third in my lifetime, and I was too young to remember the first one. It's a special thing, and I'm proud of this team. Things have changed a lot over the last decade or so - I think a lot of people (especially in the wake of the loss at Purdue) forgot just how much it means to play for and earn a Rose Bowl berth. It's a great feeling when it happens.

Now with all that out of the way... GO BUCKS!!!!! FUCK M*CH*G*N!!!

Yes, Poor Special teams was the biggest problems. Vandenburg played very well, but if not for the miscues on special teams, we probably would have won in Regulation

All I can say is that our game plan involved Vandenburg bombing, and our D NOT giving up the bomb.

Sadly they gave a 55 yarder up.

Bad things -

I was asking myself all game why they didn't go after Vandenberg more.

I'd like to see more Wildcat in the redzone. Its been pretty effective for us but we need Boom to quit dancing in the backfield. He's far more effective just making one cut and going to daylight.

Saine needs more carries, why hasn't this been established is beyond me.

If Coleman sticks his arms out on that slant to McNutt, its never a touchdown. Seriously, we have to play the ball better against scUM and against our bowl opponent.

It seemed like every big passing play came against Chimdi. I feel for him, but he's our top corner and it seemed like Iowa had no reserve in going after him. That is a concern for me. I'd like to see Amos going against some of the more staturesque receivers.

Good -

Oline did VERY well, I'm really becoming more optimistic about their play.
They went toe to toe with a great defensive front.

Running backs (especially Saine) played tough, like I said, less dancing, more north south. I still want to see Hall get at least a couple meaningful carries.

The linebackers make plays, Homan is a beast and Spitler came up big.

Doug Worthington, I love you man.

Congrats to the seniors, you played with heart.

Barclay, have you ever had a six way with incredibly hot women? If not, guess what buddy, chances are your the most popular man in the state right now. You have yourself a fine evening, and lets make sure your name is properly sewn onto your jersey.

Roses!! Roses!! Roses!!

But first, Hate M*chigan week officially starts NOW, lets get this bitch going!!
