JT: 19 Seniors going to the Rose Bowl. "Life is pretty good".

on Saine and Herron: Both rushed for over a hundred. "Those are some tough Kids"

He should just said "Hey we won right? We're going to the Rose Bowl and we've got those crazy bastards from up north next week. Let's go celebrate!"

Post thoughts...

--Back to basics...after last week, didn't expect today's gameplan on either side of the ball. A 1st time starter and we aren't unleashing hell on him from all angles? Dunno...

--Special teams...worst game overall that Ive seen in JT's era. All around bad.

--OL...I can't blame the OL even though they will likely take some heat. 5 guys can only do so much...especially when they are outnumbered.

--Boom & Saine & TP...helluvan effort tonight from all of them.

--Anderson Russell...2 INTs. Not exactly redemption, but a great way to go out on Senior Day.

--Matt Millen....you suck...at everything.

1. Their O-Line played pretty well. When Vandenburg started making throws, we didn't bring the LBs and DBs, because Iowa's WRs were getting open.

2. Agree, poor punting and kick coverage

3. Our O-Line played pretty good, IMO, we ran like hell on them. Both Boom and Saine were around 100 yards. I think Iowa only allowed one RB to get 100 yards before this game all season. Terrelle wasn't really pressured.

4. Agree

5. Agree

6. Agree

Count the blitzes in the first half.

Count the blitzes in the 3rd quarter.

Count the blitzes in the 4th.

You could get open in 3-4 seconds.

Agreed. I expect both offenses to struggle to move the ball. Whoever can avoid committing turnovers and giving up big plays on offense should win the game. Both teams seem to share the philosophy of controlling the ball, running effectively, hitting on big plays in the passing game, and having great special teams.

I expect OSU to do a much better job of keeping McNutt and Johnson-Koulianos from getting behind the defense than some other teams (Indiana :shake:) have done. Make Vandenburg win the game by moving the ball through the air. If he can do it, bravo to them.

Wow....he very nearly did. Not pressuring him didn't help, but he played a helluva game. Looks like Iowa has a pretty good one for the next 3 years.

Kudos to him on coming into the Shoe and playing the game he did.

Shades of Florida 06 where everyone knew if you hit Chris Leak he would fade and they never went after him. I questioned it then and I question it now. There's a reason everyone blitzes rookies... because it works.

Agreed... I thought the team executed fairly well what they were given...
I question what they were given.

Anyone surprised?

My thoughts.

I like that OSU has 2 dependable backs but one gets 29 carries the other 13. From what I've seen that number should be closer to being reversed. Neither is Beanie and neither is Antonio Pittman either.

The coaches were obviously protecting Pryor from having to win the game. The obviously were worried about him losing it for them. That's the only rational explanation for the play calling combined with not wanting Pryor to take hits because of injuries. But I'm still confused.

I was sitting with my wife (actually pacing back and forth) when the kick was attempted and we both yelled when it was good. My wife noticed that Barclay after the celebration didn't have a name on the back of his jersey. I told her that he did but it was must have been ripped off during the celebration as it was just held up there with Velcro and the other players have their jerseys permanently stenciled on.

Her response was classic, "I bet after today he has a permanent jersey....."

Someone who has this game on DVR and kept it running for the post game show needs to get Jim Cordle's reaction in the post game. That was great. Go Bucks!

I think the coaches were able to see how emotional he seemed to be getting in the 3rd quarter. He was visibly frustrated when we didnt go for it on 4th and 1 and in every game this year where he has become visibly frustrated, he tends to try to do too much and makes more mistakes. Just my opinion though.:oh:
