But that's so the fans on the west side of the stadium know how to spell S-E-C when they're up by three touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

If Bama fans are chanting S-E-C in the fourth quarter, they're doing it from home, so the logo should be displayed for tv.

They are. I watched a video the other day that mentioned it.

The field turf has a "shelf" life of 8 to 10 years. This was year 8 and the turf contractor was already on campus doing other projects. Essentially a combo deal since the equipment/labor was already on site.
