As an OU grad and OSU football supporter, I understand how you can see it as bizarre. However, I hope OU does not get a single first down and does not cross midfield on Saturday. I went to maybe three football games in my entire time at OU--and they were all homecoming games. MOST OU alumni can say the same thing. There is a VERY small contingent of alumni who actually follow the football program on a regular basis. Most of the others are just people who want to brag that they can outdrink you because they went to OU. To pretend that I somehow now have some sort of pride in my alma mater's football program would be completely ridiculous. The highlight of the day for OU will be watching the Marching 110 perform at halftime. I will still drink like an OU grad, but I'll be rooting for the Buckeyes to run it up (Tressel-style run-up, of course, 37-0)...

KC, I'd say that more than a small coningent of alumni follow OU football and athletics in general. A lot of alumni do follow both OSU & OU football. Are you going to the game Saturday? If so, will you be wearing scarlet & gray instead of green & white?

I'll take myself, Saw31, OCBF, BIGBLUEHART, and ballin', and spot you a case.

Now you are crossing the line. NO COLLEGE can drink like Ohio University students. While yeah you can grab a few buddies that can drink, but on average we can spot you a case and still drink you under the table.

Just remember you are talking about a campus that riots when the bars closed early on daylight savings. Just don't mess with our drinking abilities. It is the only thing we have! :drunks:

To be fair, I'm almost certain three of my list never attended college.

Except for Wisconsin might edge them out.... ironically, I was there the first night there was a riot for daylight savings time in Athens... it was started (in large part) by Wisconsin students in conjuntion with a bunch of OU Sigma Chi's. I'm dead serious. (See, it didn't start as a riot, more of a fight really, but, with a bunch of pissed off kids in the streets after the bard unexpectedly closed, it degenerated into a Court Street wide riot)

Having said that... yeah, on a per capita basis, the OU kids will generally outdrink the Ohio State kids.

It's pretty harmless for Piney to root for OU -- I think that he should let out a big cheer if OU manages more than 100 yards of total offense. I might golf clap that achievement myself. It's not a given.

Otherwise, this game isn't going to be a whole lot different than the YSU game, and could be worse. Not only is OU horribly one dimensional now that McRae is gone, ONE WR accounted for the majority of the passing yards against Wyoming. This is a team which can neither run nor pass particularly well.

From the game stats, their defense didn't seem to be doing a whole lot to slow down Wyoming's rushing attack (again, a one dimensional team), so our backups should get lots of practice time this week.

The only thing that will hold the score down is if the Bucks hold on to the ball for long stretches. OU's possessions will likely be short and unproductive. If they also have a large number of penalties (as against Wyoming), then that will keep the clock stopped as well.

Actually I think Ohio can get 200+ yards of offense going. Don't laugh... I really think we can move the ball.

Also I think Ohio State will struggle on offense. And I say that because I think Beanie will be on the sidelines (different story if Beanie plays). Yes OSU has some young guys that should step up, but they have to prove it! Tressel will come into this game thinking it will be time to let Boeckman air it out to get his arm ready for USC. Or at least that is what I am counting on.

Boeckman WILL struggle. The Ohio secondary is actually very good. (Ok, good for a mid-major team). Ohio has a few speed rushers and might get some pressure on Boeckman.

So my prediction is at halftime there will be alot of unhappy Ohio State fans wondering... WTF???? It will remind many of the 1999 meeting.

And then Tressel will realize that Ohio is using 4 DEs on their DL and then decide to give the young RBs some work and OSU will pull away in the 2nd half.

Some don't realize that Ohio was beating Virginia Tech in the 2nd quarter last year and was within a score heading to the 4th quarter where Virginia Tech was able to score some late TDs to make it look like an easy win. Ohio is a tricky team that will give Ohio State a scare it was not expecting. Cuz hate to say it, half of the team is looking ahead to USC and will come out flat. They have done it before and will do it again.

I was there that night too. Well, not uptown but at a house on Palmer finishing off a keg. News spread like wildfire there was something going on on Court St. One of my buddies actually got hit by one of those 'rubber' bullets and had a huge welt on his thigh. He was so pissed cuz it almost nailed him in the jewels.

But I can believe the SigmaChis were involved... That chapter was on double secret probation for awhile and if I recall got booted from campus.

52-0.

No offense. I think JT pulls a bicep trying to rein his horses in.

Really it won't be a shutout. AND Ohio will cover. Do not underestimate Frank the Tank!

I do plan on putting about 50 v-million on Ohio covering

If OU can't establish a running game, then it will be a long day. Theo Scott had a career day throwing the ball last week, not sure if he can repeat that performance. OUs return game may cause some fits. They are solid on kick & punt returns.

Don't you know... Ohio now runs a spread offense. Everyone knows Ohio State's defense can't defend the spread

But did Theo have a career game or a breakout performance to a very good season? In talking with Wyoming fans before the game they were expecting their defense to be the strength of their team. After the game Wyoming fans were shocked by how bad their defense played.

I'm going to the game and I will be decked out in Scarlet & Grey. Like I said, I hope OU doesn't even cross mid-field. If they were playing OSU in hoops or baseball, it would be a different story. I was sad to see OU drop another heartbreaker to Wyoming and I'm happy that we have a coach who seems to have the program in the right direction. But to say that I have anything invested in the program as a whole would be an outright lie. I may "Stand Up & Cheer" when the 110 comes out, but that's about it. We've got the team, but we don't have the steam. It's old Ohio's day.

Eh, I was at the Junction trying to figure out whether quads would spill if I put them in my pockets... then slipping around the madness so as not to get hit in the jewesl by anything.

You are crazy. I think that night has taken on urban legend status at this point. Everyone claims to have been part of starting that riot. I was not uptown that night, as I wasn't 21 yet. But I have some friends who will vehemently protest your theory that the riot was started by anyone other than patrons from the Junction--and they were NOT Wisconsin students. The Junction! Where good times and good friends meet...anybody who wants me on that foosball table, just let me know.
