Game Thread Ohio 14, Ohio State 26 (Sept. 6)

I'm going to the game and I will be decked out in Scarlet & Grey. Like I said, I hope OU doesn't even cross mid-field. If they were playing OSU in hoops or baseball, it would be a different story. I was sad to see OU drop another heartbreaker to Wyoming and I'm happy that we have a coach who seems to have the program in the right direction. But to say that I have anything invested in the program as a whole would be an outright lie. I may "Stand Up & Cheer" when the 110 comes out, but that's about it. We've got the team, but we don't have the steam. It's old Ohio's day.

Maybe consider wearing an OU shirt and OSU hat to the game? Or vice versa? It would definitely strike up good conversation w/ everyone around. I was at the Youngstown game last week. Spoke to quite a few OU alumni at the game. They will be wearing green to this Saturday's game or a combo of both, as suggested above.

Not to go off topic but OU hoops is definitely headed in the right direction w/ Groce!

Actually I think Ohio can get 200+ yards of offense going. Don't laugh... I really think we can move the ball.

Also I think Ohio State will struggle on offense. And I say that because I think Beanie will be on the sidelines (different story if Beanie plays). Yes OSU has some young guys that should step up, but they have to prove it! Tressel will come into this game thinking it will be time to let Boeckman air it out to get his arm ready for USC. Or at least that is what I am counting on..
Not going to happen, Tressel is using this game to get his guys ready. The theme for the USC game is not going to be air it out and it won't be for this one either.
Boeckman WILL struggle. The Ohio secondary is actually very good. (Ok, good for a mid-major team). Ohio has a few speed rushers and might get some pressure on Boeckman.
Again, I don't foresee this as a problem. Boeckman did perfectly fine with staying in and taking a hit last game. Additionally Boekman other than his one hopper to first looked very good and showed a lot of command.

So my prediction is at halftime there will be alot of unhappy Ohio State fans wondering... WTF where has my beer gone???? Then they will notice the guy in bobcat gear chugging their Miller Light.
FIFY

And then Tressel will realize that Ohio is using 4 DEs on their DL and then decide to give the young RBs some work and OSU will pull away in the 2nd half.
Moot point, OSU is not going to change their Offensive strategy when they have three other decent backs, while none of them may be a 6'1'' 237 lb juggernaut, they all showed glimmers of ability last week and will be fine. Mo Wells looked the best I've seen him since he came to OSU, breaking a couple tackles and running well up the gut.

Some don't realize that Ohio was beating Virginia Tech in the 2nd quarter last year and was within a score heading to the 4th quarter where Virginia Tech was able to score some late TDs to make it look like an easy win. Ohio is a tricky team that will give Ohio State a scare it was not expecting. Cuz hate to say it, half of the team is looking ahead to USC and will come out flat. They have done it before and will do it again.

Piney, man, come on... I know I give OU a lot of crap, but I do like to see the MAC do well, but it's not going to happen. I still remember my Jr. Year in college. Everyone at Miami thought Ben and the boys had a chance against scUM, they were breaking in a new QB and everything... Then Chad Henne made us his bitch. This OSU team is not an overrated Virginia Tech team, this is a possible nat'l title contender. I hope OU puts up a valiant effort, I really do (not winning of course) but I just don't see it happening. Good Luck to the Bobcats, represent the MAC well.

Eh, I was at the Junction trying to figure out whether quads would spill if I put them in my pockets... then slipping around the madness so as not to get hit in the jewesl by anything.

The Junction is the only time that I have requested to make the drink weaker. Half the drink was liquor instead of two thirds.

Kickdown, if it's that important to you, perhaps I will consider wearing some green on Saturday. I will have to dig deep in my closet to find some free tee-shirt that I got for signing up for a credit card on Court St. or something (and then immediately maxed out on cases of beer for afterhours). But I'm sure I can find something under all of those Buckeye shirts. For what it's worth, most of my friends will be donning OU gear. Most of them still behave like they are in college, so it won't be a stretch.

I know a many an Ohio alum that is like that. I went to a handful of football games while I was in Athens. But really I was there when they lost like 20 games straight or something. I think they won maybe 3-4 games over the course of 4 years I was there. But then again I didn't go more because I was waking up around 3-4pm and it seemed like it rained every Saturday afternoon.

But it is funny eh, any sport but Football we have our Green & White and rooting hard that Ohio beats Ohio State. I was front row for most of Gary Trent's career at Ohio and was at St Johns as we stomped Ohio State and I took the roadie to Charlottesville as we stomped on Virginia.

After I graduated I figured I would be like that (root for OSU over Ohio in football). But then 1999 happened. At the game with my little brother who was at OSU at the time I found myself openly rooting for the upset by halftime. Even though the 2nd half was a totally different story I fell in love with Jim Grobe and his style (one reason I love rooting for Wake Forest). But it made me realize that my alma mater is my alma mater.

Someone asked if I would be happy if Ohio wins. HECK YEAH! Cuz it will be a huge step for my alma mater. It will help my team recruit better and win more in the MAC and upset another team in a BCS conference.

But it won't ruin Ohio State's national championship hopes. Cuz when OSU beats USC a loss to Ohio will be forgiven and if OSU only loses that game against Ohio, they will be playing in Miami.

But it is good crack though!

I fully blame this on the lack of sleep. My wife realized I hadn't bought an Ohio University onesie yet for my son. (How could I forget???) So my wife plans on dressing him up in his Ohio State gear and taking a picture of me with my Ohio University gear on holding my son.

It's not important, just saying consider it. maybe pick up a new shirt online? or pick up one of the new pawprint or heritage shirts the next time you go down to ATown.

Piney, I plan to get a lot of pictures of my fiancee decked out in OSU stuff and me in OU gear.

You are crazy. I think that night has taken on urban legend status at this point. Everyone claims to have been part of starting that riot. I was not uptown that night, as I wasn't 21 yet. But I have some friends who will vehemently protest your theory that the riot was started by anyone other than patrons from the Junction--and they were NOT Wisconsin students. The Junction! Where good times and good friends meet...anybody who wants me on that foosball table, just let me know.

And I agree, as I said in an eariler post, I was at the Junction.... with said Wisconsin guys. I will say that I will claim no part of starting said riot or instigating the afforementioned "near fight."

OU lost to Wyoming.

Yawn.

The mighty Wyoming Cowboys held the Bobcats to 39 yards rushing.

3-9 yards. Thirty-nine. Treinta y nueve. XXXIX.

I guess the only thing more embarrassing is that OU is posting a larger spread against the Buckeyes than a I-AA school...

Yeah, while you were asking the bartender to take it easy on your Junction Punch, I was the guy sitting on the barstool next you with a Quad glass full of Southern Comfort, pointing and laughing at you.

Back in the day, I took the 2/3rds fulls. Asking for the half full glass was a few weeks ago when I was down there visiting.
