Official Server Upgrade discussion

I've toasted CPUs (with the HSF fan getting caught and not spinning all weekend) and done tons of other "non-refund worthy" things to certain PC parts, and they replaced or refunded (once they no longer carried the model) them without questions. Now they instantly approve your RMA. It seems like too much service on their part, but I guess when the entire world turns to you for online computer shopping, it brings in plenty of profit.

Online computer parts shopping has started booming like crazy in the past 5 years and it is such a solid market that the suppliers can easily refund parts that you would have voided the warranty on with no problem....this being because the parts are so cheap in the first place and are mostly markup prices. If you don't believe me check out www.pricewatch.com and check out the variability in pricing for the same part

Yeah their return policy is pretty cool. Keep in mind you can pay for the replacement ram, have them cross ship it, so they dont actually wait for the bad ram to get there before shipping out the new stuff. Then when they get the old ram, they credit you the price, minus shipping. Just FYI.

Not to go full geek, but you know what pisses me off more than anything in the world? When someone says "NIC Card"

Which translates out to "Network interface card card".............that drives me nuts :)
Personally I would rather hear someone say "NIC Card" rather than "NI Card".

BMax-you're a huge nerd
Damn right brotha..........shame I dont get paid as much as normal huge nerds.

You know what drives me crazy...people who think their monitor is the computer!
Yeah, if you're dealing with dialup people.....they refer to the tower as "the modem". I love when they call and ask if there is something wrong with "our server". I always want to say "Well I am sure there is something wrong with 1 of them."

No, it is a NIC, or a network card, or an ethernet card. Not a NIC card :)

Now, go and get me ANOTHER SHRUBBERY!
