Official Cleveland Browns Draft Thread

I would like to see all the former Buckeyes do well. There will always be that piece of a Buckeye present when Ginn returns a kickoff for Miami for a TD (we'll think of his last game against Fla); when Gonzo makes a catch to put the Colts in the endzone (we'll think of "the catch"); when Pittman runs one 50 yards to put the Saints ahead in a close game (we'll think of the Michigan game and a crowd chasing him down the field); when Roy Hall and Gonzo line up together for the Colts (won't this feel like a Saturday and not a Sunday); and when Troy enters the game for the Ravens for the first time because he's a pro now, won't we think about all the great games he had a Buckeye regardless of what colors he wears now? Won't we think about all the Buckeyes who made the grade and now wear something other than scarlet and grey? Won't they always be a Buckeye at heart?

I am still rather ignorant when it comes to the 3-4 defense. Would David Patterson fit in? I know he's too small to be a DT in that system, but could he be a DE? If so, I'd like to see him sign with the Browns as a FA, and for him to bring T.J. Downing with him.

Are you talking about David Patterson?

I'm no coach, but I don't think so. The ends in a 3-4 scheme are generally run-stuffing defensive tackles, not play makers. I would think he's too light to be a 3-4 end.

Then again, Simon Fraser's having success with us, so I'd love to have Patterson, too.

I have come to terms with the fact that I am now a Brady Quinn fan.

Dont understand the beef with him...

He's been very courteous toward the fans and the media. He seems pretty bright with two degrees. He's not as bad as people say he is - he DID play behind a shitty line all the time and he still put up prolific numbers.

Shouldn't be hard to root for the guy.

Agreed, good post. He is now a Cleveland Brown and no longer a Domer. That right there is good enough for me. Welcome to the Dawg Pound Brady. GO BROWNIES!

Also looks like the Browns have signed 2 undrafted free agents BYU's all-time leading rusher, Curtis Brown, is heading to the Cleveland Browns. As well as Tyrone Moss running back for UM(Miami). I don't know about Brown but Moss seems like a good pickup.

Some players I hope they bring in for workouts or sign as UDFA:
I'd also like to see them bring in Walter Thomas he is a 6-4, 370 pound DT. Could be a great run stuffer.
Mike Jones,Guard 6-5, 310 Iowa.
Obviously David Patterson.
Louis Leonard DT 6-5, 325 Fresno State.
Quinton Echols DT 6-1, 328 Kansas State.
T.J. Downing.

Browns second-round pick ready to be great

By Sean McClelland
Staff Writer

Monday, April 30, 2007
BEREA ? Eric Wright knows what you're thinking: just another football player with an arrest on his resume.
"When you're a high-profile guy, 'arrested' is basically guilty," the cornerback from UNLV said Sunday. "I know you guys are going to stir up controversy, but I just need to be myself and everything will take care of itself."

Suited for Browns

Top picks good fit; defense dominates second day

By Marla Ridenour

Beacon Journal sportswriter

BEREA - Their first appearance as the new faces of the Browns franchise was delayed partly because Brady Quinn hadn't planned on wearing the suit from the most agonizing day of his life.
``I thought it would be his girlfriend getting ready, but it was him,'' Browns General Manager Phil Savage joked. ``We made you wait yesterday, you made us wait today.''
