CLEVELAND BROWNS
WEIS CHOICE?

Quinn would love to play for Browns
Wednesday, April 25, 2007 Mary Kay Cabot
Plain Dealer Reporter
Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn felt right at home when he visited the Browns in Berea two weeks ago.
"It was almost surreal, walk ing through the halls and seeing pictures of players you grew up watching," he said. "Anytime you're trying to live your childhood dream, it's unbe lievable to be right there with a chance it could hap pen."
Quinn, one of about five players the Browns might take Saturday with the No. 3 pick in the draft, grew up a Browns fan in Dublin, Ohio, just outside Columbus.
"In Columbus, you're either a Browns fan or a Bengals fan, and everyone in my family grew up watching the Browns," he said. "It's in my blood. I've been a fan since I was little."
Quinn emphasized that although he'd love to play for the Browns, he's not counting on it. He's also expressed a desire to be the No. 1 overall pick.
"You've got to be ready for anything," he said.
"You don't want to gear up for something and then be disappointed."
Quinn, 6-3?, 230 pounds, said he met with all the important people during his visit, including General Manager Phil Savage, coach Romeo Crennel, new offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski and quarterbacks coach Rip Scherer.

My take on this article nothing really new here. We already know the Quinnster would love to be a brown. It almost seems like the Cleveland media is throwing these Quinn stories to soften up the fans if indeed they select him. All this Quinn stuff is making me feel :sick1:. Come on Brownies Draft CJ! :groove:

Browns draft: Massillon grad has high hopes for draft
Thursday, April 26, 2007
By Steve Doerschuk
REPOSITORY SPORTS WRITER

Andy Alleman had to laugh.

A minute after he said all you see on TV is Brady Quinn, the quarterback's mug appeared on ESPN.

Comic relief is good. The tension is getting thick for Stark County's best 2007 draft prospect.

"I'm excited," Alleman said. "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous."

NFLDraftScout.com predicts Alleman will be picked Saturday at No. 77 by Pittsburgh. Makes sense. The Steelers told the assertive, athletic guard they gave him a third-round grade.

Do Browns need Thomas? Savage might have pick of enticing linemen in Round 2
Thursday, April 26, 2007
By Steve Doerschuk
repository sports writer

BEREA One vocal band of Browns fans practically has pitchforks and torches at Phil Savage's door, demanding that the general manager draft left tackle Joe Thomas at No. 3 overall.

Here, however, are six reasons Savage might be content to address the offensive line in Round 2.

These six candidates are expected to be drafted in the vicinity of Cleveland's second-round pick - or perhaps at No. 36 by the Browns:

Frye or a fresh start for Browns

How the Browns choose to use their first pick in the draft boils down to one question for general manager Phil Savage:

Is Charlie Frye good enough?

Jeff Davidson, who finished out 2006 as the Browns offensive coordinator, flat out told Savage that Frye isn't good enough. Davidson is now in Carolina running the Panthers' offense. Frye is still around, with a ''leg up,'' to use coach Romeo Crennel's phrase, on fellow quarterback Derek Anderson.

That's never a good thing to hear coming from any sort of coaches mouth. I like Charlie and don't think last year was a good sample to judge him on since he spent most of the time running for his life, but it's definately not good to hear a coach say that.

Teams wary of Peterson's health

Oklahoma RB re-injured his collarbone in Fiesta Bowl

Posted: Wednesday April 25, 2007 5:57PM; Updated: Wednesday April 25, 2007 7:13PM
Former Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson, an almost certain top-10 pick in the first round of Saturday's NFL draft, re-injured his collarbone in the Sooners' loss in the Fiesta Bowl on New Year's Day -- an injury that has not been previously disclosed except to NFL teams.
Peterson broke his collarbone on Oct. 14 against Iowa State and missed the rest of Oklahoma's regular season, returning for the first time in the bowl game against Boise State. Peterson made NFL teams aware of the re-injury at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. Continued...

Well, shit. I don't like hearing this, and now have some serious doubts about drafting AD. This type of injury (along with other issues) derailed Charles Rogers career. To tell you the truth, I'm starting to really want the Browns to trade down and gather additional picks...

i have to take this report with a grain of salt. peterson went to the combine and was put through the rigors by dozens of teams, and nobody knew anything about a lingering injury. now, all of a sudden this comes to light a few days before the draft. Just like Alan Branch having stress fractures in his tibias.

True, but this just reaffirms what people have been saying about this durability. The guy is fragile and that is the last thing that the Browns need. They have enough problems with guys getting hurt that don't have an injury history like AD has. They can not risk a #3 pick and that kind of investment on a guy with suspect health. I hate to say it, but for as much as I dislike Brady Quinn, I would rather see them draft him than an injured Peterson. (God, I just threw up a little in my mouth after typing that.) I am still holding hope that they can make a nice trade and move down and pick up more first day picks. If not, I still want either Joe Thomas or Calvin if he is still there.

Goodell is trying to put a stop to these "leaks" about player's health. This looks like a lot more predraft misinformation that could seriously affect the earning power of these players, and violates the confidentiality that these guys are supposed to have.

If anything, I would see this as a sign that a team is willing to stoop to this level to try and make Peterson drop to them. I still want Peterson or Johnson.

I would hope so haha

Even after these reports if the last 2 people on earth were BQ or AD, i go with peterson 10 out of 10 times. Johnson, Thomas, Peterson or trade down. Unless for some reason the raiders & lions pass on mr. russell.

It's true.

The agent for Adrian Peterson confirmed SI.com's report that his client re-injured his collarbone in Oklahoma's Fiesta Bowl loss to Boise State.

The agent says Peterson still will be ready for training camp even if he has surgery. "All 32 teams have known about this since the Combine," the agent said. Peterson may need a disc inserted into his collarbone.

I still want him or Michael Bush in the 3rd.
