Official Cleveland Browns Draft Thread

I would hope so haha

Even after these reports if the last 2 people on earth were BQ or AD, i go with peterson 10 out of 10 times. Johnson, Thomas, Peterson or trade down. Unless for some reason the raiders & lions pass on mr. russell.

Not at all sold on the hype machine.

So he can throw 80 yards, how often do NFL teams go over the top in a game? 2,3, maybe 5 times?

So what he can throw through a wall, when was the last time they had a fastball competition? Yes this attribute does come alittle more in handy, but not as much in snow top cleveland.

He better run like a crackhead if he is going to be the first pick of cleveland or oakland. Running QB is nice, I wouldnt mind seeing a little flair at this position-but in cleveland it isnt going to be as big of a attribute when we run often and have horrible weather, he wont be QBing out of the gun that often either.

He has been a QB for two years. Do you want a 2 year intern dentist, or heart surgeon, or gyno? He is the doctorb. He has to click when it is riding on him, he has to lead when everyone is down, he has to see the open man when Lewis is 6 inches from gutting him- Russel might be good later, I just dont like it that he has 2 years (college no less) experience. There are guys born and bred QBs (Eli Manning) and still cant quite get it to gether in the NFL.

Well, shit. I don't like hearing this, and now have some serious doubts about drafting AD. This type of injury (along with other issues) derailed Charles Rogers career. To tell you the truth, I'm starting to really want the Browns to trade down and gather additional picks...

I've held that is their best move all along. Drop a few spots, get an extra pick or two, and build for the future. There is nobody at the top of this draft who is going to put this team in the Super Bowl next year.

Who knows what is going on. Peterson was just on Sirius Radio saying that he is fine and ready to go for the season. He said there is no truth to the collarbone story.
Wish i had the damn link, just read that in an email response from Savage that they did know of the injury, and at this point would not require surgery. If it were to require surgey at some point it's 4-6 weeks downtime, would be a plate in his collarbone and he would be ready for training camp in July.

Even a AD that needs surgery?

It's true.

I still want him or Michael Bush in the 3rd.

All this injury stuff made me hesitant before finding all this out about his re injured collarbone and needing surgery. Now finding this out, just compounds the fact that he is fragile. The Browns have enough trouble keeping guys healthy that do not have a injury history like AD, let alone someone that has the past he does. Whoever they draft though, I hope they are up to date on their tetanus shots. :slappy:

What about Kenny Irons or Pittman in the 2nd?

I like Pittman, but not sure he is the back for this team. He is a speedy back that is not going to run over anyone. He will make you miss in the open field, but the Browns line is not good enough yet for a back that can't break tackles like a Peterson can (if healthy). An Irons in the 3rd would not be a bad pick.

Yes, see the other browns thread.. i dont have the link but savage responded via email to petersons injury

he said he already knew about it and it will NOT require surgery at this point, and even if it does it will be a disc put in his collar bone requiring a few weeks of downtime and AD would still be ready come July for camp.

His high ankle sprain can happen to anyone and the collarbone is a fluke.. the reason he re-injuried makes me want to draft him more.. he wasn;t 100% but still went out in the bowl game, while people close to him were saying dont risk it, and gave it his all. That kind of attitude, IMO, would serve the Browns well.

Here's another update.

Sooners' Peterson healed and ready

By BARRY WILNER, AP Football Writer 43 minutes ago

NEW YORK - Adrian Peterson insists his collarbone has healed properly and he will be in minicamp for whichever team selects him in Saturday's NFL draft. He's also not concerned that a recent report claiming he will need further surgery on the left collarbone will hurt his draft stock.

The Oklahoma running back expects to go very high.

"The last couple of teams I visited with, Atlanta and Minnesota, I've been through everything you can do and there is nothing negative," he said Thursday. "Everything has been positive news. They've got everything right there in front of them and there are no red flags.

"I'll be ready for minicamp and won't miss anything at all."

Peterson acknowledged he reinjured the collarbone during Oklahoma's loss to Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl.

"Yes, but it was not a re-break," he said. "It wasn't completely healed at the time, but it was solid. I hurt it, but I didn't break it again."

He estimated the injury is "95 percent healed."

In the last two months, Peterson has had CT scans and X-rays, been poked and probed by team doctors and trainers, then had more exams. He said not once has a team indicated it was dissatisfied with the findings.
