Official Cleveland Browns Draft Thread

The guy who wrote that must not like the Browns very much.

Brady Quinn?

I think the idea was that the Browns should front for Quinn in order to trade down -- he mentioned the Bucs as a likely candidate. I'm not buying that logic (Gruden isn't going to trade up 1 spot for Quinn...), but neither QB is going to help us IMO.

Why would Gruden get a QB when it appears that Chris Simms will be ready to go and Bruce Gradkowski could be a decent starter down the road?

Quinn would just bring pressure to that situation and the Bucs need some youth on their defense anyway.

I'd think that the Browns are trying to entice someone like Houston or Baltimore or someone like that to trade up so they can get Quinn and the Browns can get someone of value PLUS their pick in the 1st round.

I agree 100% -- I was just pointing out the writer's thought process. But I agree that there is no way Gruden trades up a single spot for Quinn. I'm not so sure anybody else would either... except **MAYBE* Houston. I can't see the Ravens making that mistake twice.
The only player worth moving up for, IMO, is CJ. But with this draft being incredibly deep in the WR department, I'm not sure he's worth it either.

It really depends on how much Baltimore thinks Boller is improving under McNair.

They might get another year or two out of McNair, maybe. They need to figure something out (Ok I have Baltimore in the BP Mock Draft too )

But beyond Houston, I can't think of anyone who truly needs a star QB to come in at this time. Maybe if Dallas thinks Romo won't do it, but that will probably be a determination made after next year.

But back to the Browns, I think their priorities should be their offensive and defensive lines. But that's just me.

we aren't trading down though. people need to get that ideal out of their heads.

How the heck do you know that? We still have the combine, free agency, then the draft. How can you possibly know what teams will need and what they will be willing to offer?

Is that you Butch Davis?
