Official Cleveland Browns Draft Thread

Theres no way the Raiders take Thomas #1. Remember the last big-10 lineman they took in the first round?

I remember, but this is Al Davis we are talking about here....

If I had to guess, I think Brady Quinn will end up being either a Buccaneer or a Houston Texan.....

Does my hatred of Notre Dame cloud my judgment on Quinn? Absolutely.

But what clouds my judgment the most is 1) His inability to win a big game. 2) Inability to pass under pressure.

The guy simply folds like a tent when any defense shows that it has a pulse. (And in case you haven't noticed, they know how to blitz in Baltimore and Pittsburgh)

Exactly. And o counter Thump's contention that he hasn't been playing with a stellar line and still put up stats... Cleveland doesn't play the likes of Army, Navy, USAF, Stanford, UNC, MSU and other teams through his career whose defenses are likely outclassed by a mediocre OL. And we all know Brady Quinn doesn't have great stats in the big games.
While we're on the subject of his stats, though, it's all well known they're inflated because he throws 35 times a game. This is reflected in his ypa, which is in the 7s (6 in big games). 7ypa is about what I'd expect from an NFL QB -- but not from a college one. To contrast, some other ypas.

Brennan 9.93
Troy Smith 8.17
Brian Brohm 9.74

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Hawaii and Louisville didn't seem to have better Olines than ND. And our own OL didn't even show up against Florida.

I think it still stands that Quinn is a poor man's Carson Palmer.
Mr. Palmer, unlike Brady, actually won a Heisman -- and did so without all the preseason hype. Like Brady Quinn, Carson Palmer led the revival of his team. (2002 was USC's coming out party) But unlike Brady Quinn, he beat quality opponents and won a BCS bowl to do it.

You're seriously putting Brennan on there? Remember Tommy Chang?

Louisville has a much better line than ND btw

To all of those talking about how the browns use the BPA theory in the draft then you cannot be talking about Brady Quinn because Calvin Johnson IMO would be the BPA if both were available when cleveland drafts.

The problem is the Browns were bad yesterday, the Browns are bad today, and the Browns will be bad tomorrow. No matter who they get

But the idea is to try to get better by the day after tomorrow.

To me, at least, that equals strengthening the basic parts of your football team first. A bad line will cripple you if you have Barry Sanders in the backfield and John Elway at QB. However there isn't a Barry Sanders OR a John Elway in this draft (or a Carson Palmer or LDT either).....

Calvin Johnson would be an interesting pick, but if they did that, would Braylon go? Does anyone think they could trade him for more picks??

WR isn't a pressing need for us. Yes, hes a great talent, but we really have far more pressing needs at HB/QB/OT/DT/DE.

Plus if we drafted him, we would be the new Lions and the victim of countless jokes.

I would really like to see AD in a Browns uniform next year. However what if:

Oakland Raiders - Jamarcus Russell
Detroit Lions - Adrian Peterson

Who do we take at #3? CJ, a position we dont have a major need at? Reach for Branch or Thomas? BQ would be the best way to go.

To me, that would not be the end of the world like it is for some of you. If it is, then go root for the Bengals.

IF Peterson and Russell are gone, Thomas isn't a reach....
