To tell ya the truth oden wouldnt have a chance in hell against Durant, Oden still needs to develop as a player. He has shown weakness lots of them. The xavier game the emotions really got the best of him when he pushed the player when he fouled out. Oden is going to be a beast but he is not ready yet for a player of Durants caliber, Nor is he ready for the NBA
Durant needs to play both ends of the floor to even have this conversation. Matador defense. He lets his guy go by him, hopes he misses so he can grab the easy board. No one changes the game like Greg, but obviously he isn't in Durant's class offensively.

I wonder why he was upset? I mean to tell you the truth, he only had to endure this type of contact all game without getting a call (check out the hook in the 2nd pic):

NEAL C . LAURON DISPATCH Oden picks up foul No. 5 by shoving Gage out of bounds. "I just look at that foul as, they?re going to call bull crap fouls," Oden said. "I might as well get one that?s hard."

yeah but to push like that, a player of odens caliber should be ready for things like this to happen. Ya know! For the most part i was impressed with the way oden handled himself when smaller players tried to body up with him but that was uncalled for, i mean that could could have seriously been injured!

if you watch Ben Wallace, Alonzo mourning, Amare Stoudmire.....they all do these things, that showed that he is just not ready for the NBA. I think he should stay one more year. Does anyone know if he is coming back to play for yall next year

a couple of things

youre right he isnt that refined yet. though playing the five when do players hit their stride? id say mid 20s (24 to 26ish) gaurds and wings much earlier.

on letting his emotions get the best of him. ?

on the foul. i took one thing away from all that. the kid was into the game. he didnt let the muggins get the best of him and kept his head in the game. the quick foul gave his teammates the oppurtunity to win the game.

and on the stuff going on under the basket. everyone knows the offiicial is going to swallow his whistle in a big close game. thats the way it is. unless the guys a major prick or someone is held up at gun point.

I'd say there was also some acting on Cage's part...which is what he should do, but I don't see the possibility of someone getting injured to be any more probable than the numerous times Xavier players were hacking GO, hooking his arms, pulling his jersey, or somehow finding their way into his legs every time he jumped.

Basketball is tough...but let's not single out one instance as a reason to downgrade Greg Oden's talent. He was cold early...it wasn't a great day for him offensively. However, his defensive presence made a huge difference.

...only by taking 24 shots from the field. IMO, if Durant's as good as advertised, he should have been able to lead his team a little further than the second round in the NCAA tournament. What's worse, his team was drilled by a USC team that can be characterized by mediocre at best.

:slappy:

The amount of ways people will try to defend Oden over Durant is comical.

Scoring 30 on 24 shots is bad? If you go 11-24 w/ 2 3's and go 6-8 from the line, that's 30 points. yeah, that's horrible. :roll1:

No doubt in my mind this kid is a 1st round talent....definatly not downgrading his talent, hell i wish we had this kid, but come on that was an intentional foul, I can understand a little nudge but that was one hell of a push.

Well, we can call it an intentional foul all night long...but in the only record that matters, it was simply labeled #5.

I know you can respect that as a Volunteer fan...refs don't always notice things or make the right calls...like illegal cleats for instance.

In all seriousness though, my first reaction was intentional foul...after watching the replays, I thought there was some great acting/flopping to go with it.

Although I would much rather be playing xavier, I would feel much better if we were to upset yall(not saying we will) none the less it will be a hell of a game HOPEFULLY
