This is win win for us Buckeye fans. Day most likely will still call a lot of the plays while getting Hartline acclimated. Also, Brian can recruit outside the WR room. Get this dude recruiting the best offensive talent in the country. Hopefully he starts with OL.

I think this is a logical step.....in many ways, it may bring Hartline closer to the HC position at OSU should anything happen with Day (the NFL murmurs will always be there). I doubt Hartline will get playcalling duties but assume he will be much more involved in game-planning. Also much easier to give him a fat raise which is always nice.....

Me too, although like you said, it's much less of a risk with it being Day's offense. It's also more opportunity to learn gradually rather than repairing what's broken.

Hartline has always been the best at what he does... this won't be any different.
He had to take this next step. If he were to struggle? Guess what.... coach Day is right there to help.

Can learn from Day w/ little risk. If he's great, he'll wrest the play-calling from Day.
At that point, he'll be ready for a HC job.

Pretty much solidifies that we don't go back to a run first Offense. At least he stays and that's the biggest win all the way around!

I'm not like an insider or anything, but if the stuff out there about who coaches in college football and the NFL think are potential stars in the profession down the line are true, you wanted to keep Hartline. He is very well respected by other good coaches and he's on the poach watch list for other schools. Gotta keep those kinda fish fat, happy, and well fed; or they swim away.

I've always been suspect of WR's and some QB's that move into OC/play calling roles. Sometimes they tend to get pass happy.
But Hartline has been great at everything he's done as a coach, plus the dude played under Tress. I see no reason to not have every confidence in his abilities.
