OC Chip Kelly (Official Thread)

My personal opinion is that I can't believe that Kelly and Day were that stupid. I think that Howard was hurt, perhaps concussed, and they were getting to him badly. That said, if they had run up early leads in game and stopped this "chance to win the the 4th quarter" silliness in their easier games at least, they could have played multiple quarterbacks. If only the 2's and 3's got some playing time.
If Howard had a concussion, wouldn't he have worn dark shades at the postgame presser? Concussion recovery = 2+ days in the dark. Or would he have even done the presser at all?

he "passed" concussion protocol.... whatever that is at Ohio State... but no everyone's impacted differently based on severity, history, etc

Not necessarily. I've had 8 in my life and never had light sensitivity. Symptoms vary across individuals and across levels of severity. Light sensitivity can be a symptom.

The concussion protocol is explained here:
Link: BP link to concussion protocol in Will Howard thread

Edit
Reading all of that stuff, it is not clear to me that Howard had to take the more rigorous test. Further, Day seems to say that Howard told him he was okay after some kind of assessment. Later, Day says Howard was injured but okay to play and will be fine for the next game. So, it is not at all clear to me what was wrong and how that affected play-calling, but it sure as heck seems like he was not 100%.

My concussion protocol was always: beer, cheeseburger, blowjob... not always in that order and there was not much incentive to clear protocol too early.

I'm not so sure on the science behind giving a blowjob on a full stomach as a concussion protocol.

Maybe you were more concussed than you thought?

I did it all at once so I could heal up quicker.
Better man than I. Best I could do was any two of the three at a time. I can definitely say, and Mrs. RugbyBuck will concur, that the Savannah, GA St. Patrick's Day rugby tournament is not to be missed. I believe wadc45 and the tOSU squad have played it a few times, but can't speak to their concussion protocol.

maybe some of you x's and o's guys can explain this to me...

everybody talks about how "you have to establish the run to open up the pass." and i get the logic of that... the threat of the run forces the secondary to play up tighter on the line of scrimmage for run support, which then gives the offense and the qb the chance to take the top off with their receivers.

what i've wondered the last few years as osu has really struggled with getting any kind of ground game going is this: can't you flip the logic the other way around? can't you open up running lanes by coming out passing?

two halves of the same equation, isn't it? why does the ground game have to come first?
This is literally the West coast offense that Bill Walsh created with Montana and Rice's 49'ers and idk why we don't do that

the schemes work only if the OL holds up at some basic level, right? if the guys are missing assignments and blocks and looking confused, i’m not sure if any scheme will work reliably.
I don’t know, it seems to me if your scheme is to block the best part of their line straight on and run up the gut with a patchwork offensive line your scheme sucks. I didn’t see much counter action, misdirection, or pulling.

The Lions ran a great misdirection last night where they faked to the back off tackle right and handed off to the WR coming around with a pulling guard to the left.

I expect more from the years of experience that this offensive brain trust has and certainly for the millions of dollars a year they’re making. Seems like some of you want to blame the players when the coaches are responsible for putting them in a position to succeed.
