Now "Penn State is for real" lol

JoPa's ego won't let him retire. Especially if he plays for a National Championship! He will stick around till he keels over on the field somewhere.

For the 19th time, it has nothing to do with ego. When Bobby retires, Joe will retire. And vice versa.

They both want to go out the all time wins leader. They both have given up complete control of their teams. Each is a figure-head only. FWIW Bobby still confuses his RB's and mistakenly calls them Amp Lee. Amp hasn't been around since the very early 90's.

JoePa requested to coach practice from his home. Penn St. said if you are keeping the title of HC you are going to be at practice. This tells you all you need to know about his involvement.

It has "0" to do with ego and everything to do with dying the all time wins leader.

Meh, it's not ego...he's afraid of dying like Bear Bryant. He's admitted so himself about 100 times.

The part that is bolded is oxymoronic. Needing to die the all-time wins leader is all about ego.

And I'll say that as a person who has nothing against Paterno or Bowden...actually like them. But wanting the all-time wins record and staying around just to get that...is by definition, an ego thing. It's not about team at that point...it's about "me".

that's a fair point. I guess what I'm saying is it has "zero" to do with proving they can still coach and go out on top of college football. Neither, technically, even coach any more. They just sit at practice and watch and carry the title of Head Coach. And JoePa could have a Cinderella story this season, but if Bobby returns next year, JoePa will be back as well. The success PSU is having this season, can't be attributed to Joe. Joe doesn't call plays, often sits upstairs during games with no headset, and asked to coach practice from his house. How do you coach from your house? Joe has also made 1 recruiting visit in about 5 years. Anyone know how that went? He's our starting QB now...

Hell, Bobby never controlled the defense, and Bobby has reliquinshed all control to Jimbo on offense. Bobby, as part of the agreement with Jimbo, is that Jimbo has complete control ON ALL decesions.

Neither university has the heart to tell these guys it's time to hang it up. Each university would like the other coach to step down first, to make it easier on themselves.

um, correct me if i'm wrong, but wouldn't it be his ego that makes him keeps hanging on in his attempt to be the all time wins leader? JoePa and Bubba both have enormous egos, otherwise they would have hanged them up for the sake of their programs years ago.

On a not so serious sidenote they won't be for real till they stop humming that stupid song after everything they do well.. What do they do that for? because I can tell you it sounds nothing like the real song and it just songs gay as fuck.

Penn State will be validated as for real when they are able almost beat the Buckeyes at The Shoe. It will show that they are a for real challenger to the elite teams like Ohio State...and very close to being that elite.

Sounds good, that would validate Wisconsin as for real right before they got mauled the previous 2 games.

Well, looks like they are. :(

As much as I hate to say this, I'm not completely convinced. Offenses that are above average have put points up against that PSU defense. If Ohio State had an above average offense, they would have won that game.

I think there is a very real possibility that Penn State will get smoked like a cheap cigar in the NC game.

Then again, I think there is a decent (1 in 4 maybe) chance that they lose to Iowa. If they go in flat, thinking the conference is in the bag, the Hawkeyes will beat them.

As we all know that anything can happen on the field, I really haven't seen one ounce of complacency so far with this PSU team this season. Even in the games they were supposed to be blowing people out, they did, and they didn't stop. I think PSU is a good team, I thought they were before, they just hadn't shown it against real competition. We'll see if they can finish, and this PSU team could really be Auburn from 2004 by being left out.

Penn State is good enough to beat us at home and win out in the Big Ten. But if they get into the NC game they will be dominated by whoever they play. Unfortunately that speaks alot for our strength and the strength of our conference. I'm not sure how a team that returned so much got worse.

1) The only 2 offenses that put points on PSU were Mich and ILL, and Mich was blanked the second half.

2) Yes, the possibility of a team getting smoked in the NC game exists, but don't be surprised if it's the other way around.

3) Agree again, Iowa looks dangerous all of a sudden. But there were even more doubts about this team coming in to ILL, IA, and OSU.

Both teams were conservative last night and OSU could have won the game. But why would you put down your offense and not give any credit to the defense? USC held you guys to 74yds rushing in LA without Beanie and TP was in his first game. PSU held you guys to 60yds rushing in Columbus and still no respect. It's not an accident that PSU tried to stop OSU from running.

After every PSU win this season, everyone kept saying that we haven't played a real team. Then everyone said that OSU will beat PSU. Now that PSU wins, OSU wasn't good on offense. If they opened up the offense last night and put 400yds on OSU, then you'd probably say that OSU "mailed it in".

Good luck to the Buckeyes the rest of the season and hopefully you'll make it to a BCS bowl and blow out whoever you play. The Big10 is not as weak and the SEC isn't as good as people think. Here's hoping that PSU, OSU, MSU, MINN, IA, ILL, and WISC would put a hurting on whoever we face in the bowls.
