I HATE State Penn but like a couple of others have said, the have run over almost everyone and you can't ask for more. I am sure a lot of teams are looking to this game to see if PSU is for real or not. Honestly I don't even know why people are complaining about them being ranked 3, if anything if we win and win nicely it makes us look really good, IMHO.....then again, it could just be another pretender in the BIG SLOW Big10....:!

I couldn't agree more.

Yeah they did after we beat them when they we're ranked and on a huge home winning streak. I think if someone came into the Horseshoe and beat us that we would not be the same the next week whoever we played against.

Understood; however, we're not talking about hypotheticals. The fact of that matter is that we have played the exact same opponent, and they fared much better. Does that mean anything with regard to how we'll do? No. Yet, it does lend credence to PSU being a sound team. It's going to be a hard fought game. I feel confident in the Bucks for four main reasons:

1) It's at the 'Shoe, and PSU doesn't do as well away as at home.
2) Beanie is the best back in the country
3) The Bucks performed wonderfully at Michigan State. I feel good about their turn of direction.
4) Jim Tressel. This man gets it done in conference play.

Yet, this does not detract from PSU being a very worthy adversary. I'm just attempting to temper your unsubstantiated criticism of them. They've done all that could be asked of them this year thus far.

I'd actually like to think that our coaches would be able to prevent this from happening.

I would hope so. But we had two national championships in a row and they didn't stop the same thing from happening both years. And they had a whole year in between and we had the same outcome. Although non-OSU fans are going to hate it...third times a charm hehe.

So, if we beat PSU, are we going to memorialize it with "the rail"?
if the 'crowd interaction' folk want to redeem themselves for their crimes against humanity this season (in the shoe), they'll have a moment of silence for 'the rail' late in the 4th quarter.

Amen on the bold parts. I agree 100 percent. And #5 Terrelle Pryor looked strong as ever.

FWIW if you watched the wisconsin-psu game... after psu got up by 14-21 you could see Wisc quit they were getting pushed all over the field. They saw the big ten go bye bye with our win and possibly a bowl game by quitting these past 2 weeks. Iowa spanked them too. The are done period. And name me a top ranked defense that State Penn has played against(oreg st?). This game doesnt come down to anything less than our d -line stepping it up again and getting pressure all the way around. If that happens it could end up being the MSU game all over again.

To me, honestly it looked like Wiscy lost it's morale after the final drive of the game against us. We marched down the field, in their stadium, with a freshman QB and scored...then their "more experienced" QB tossed a pick for the game. After losing like that and being DOMINATED by Michigan, of all teams right now, in the second half...I think they just sent it in. I do agree though in the PSU game they did have effort but it definately wasn't they same, PSU just embarassed them. I think Iowa beating them this week was evidence of that.

Speaking of our defense, I believe we are 10th in the nation right now. I am going to dig around the rankings but I wonder what defence was State Penn's biggest challenge so far this year...and how far off were they from us, speaking rankings of course.

Penn State has a good football. They are indicative of the resurgence of football in the Big Ten this year. They appear to be much better on both sides of the ball.

That said, Ohio State is the toughest challenge that they will have faced, especially on defense. Their SOS ranking (#82, Sagarin) indicates a much weaker SOS than Ohio State (#33). They were tested by Purdue, as we were. TSUN gave them fits last week early in the game.

This is not going to be a laugher for Ohio State this week, but given venue, our defense, better line play, Pryor's growing skills, and the resurgence of Wells, Penn State will find Ohio State to be a step too far.

One wonders, if Ohio State wins by 14 or more, will this be the last run for JoePa.

JoePa won't be done till Bowden is done. Looking at them side by side you can see that Bowden is in a little better shape health wise than JoePa is.

The best defense State Penn has played in scoring defense-temple-#35 and in total yards-Oreg St-#27.

Best offense(not that ours is stellar) that psu has played per points-illinois #20 and in yards-illinois #9 and for our style of play in rush yards-illinois #21(ohio st #19, with beanie hurt for 2 1/2 games)

Defense comparison

PPGA-Ohio st-#12 psu-#6
YPGA-Ohio st-#10 psu-#8
psu rush yards defense-#38
ohio state passing yards defense-# 47

Add that to the strength of schedule earlier posted and it is hard to say that in the shoe psu will have the same success as the rest of the season.Dline(OSU) and turnovers will determine the game.

RE: The Beanie Wells Myth

Valid points....both are different kind of backs...

I wouldn't trade Royster for anyone at this point.

These are just the first three posts...
