Notre Dame (football only discussion)

I'm sorry, but how is it that Charlie only has 1 recruiting class?

He had 7 or so coaches in Lawrence Wilson's house in January, 2005. Wilson is currently a sophomore at tOSU. It seems to me that current freshmen and non-redshirt sophomores sent NLOI's to ND when Weis was the head coach. He didn't have a full season for the class of 2005, but those players committed in writing to ND when Weis was the head coach.

And he's been coaching them for two sets of spring practices and two full seasons. It's about time he's credited with what happens to that team, regardless of who talked to the players when they were in high school.

I'm trying to remember what happened to Ohio State under Tressel during the 2002 season, his second year coaching at Ohio State.

We shall see but I heard the same thing last year before ND played Tenn.

Goddamn, that's the funniest thing I've read in about a month. You're actually comparing last year's Tennessee team that ddin't even make a bowl game to this year's LSU team that is probably a better 2-loss team than mighty USC was in 2002? (surely you remember that team...and that 44-13 pasting they hung on the Irish, right?) OK, well, gee, by that rationale, obviously Florida's speed and talent doesn't matter January 8th against us, because that's the same thing that Kent State said in 2002... :slappy:

Domer fans were saying their second team DBs were as fast as Ted Ginn Jr!
Wow! How delusional was that! :slappy:

We should start a pool for when Notre Dame will next win a bowl game!

The average life expectancy for someone who retires at 65 and is healthy is now to live to be almost 100. That means I've only got 50 years or so left.

If I were to pass on due to old age, would my vWinnings be transferable to my son who also is a member of BP?

Wow!

2005 Tennessee = Not good.
2006 LSU = Really good.

Are you seriously equating 5-6 Tennessee to 10-2 LSU?

The only bowl game that has opened with a line suggesting an even bigger blow out is Louisville over Wake.

It has now been two full years, and Notre Dame still hasn't beaten a single team that has finished the season ranked. I see nothing in a matchup that sends Notre Dame to the Superdome to play LSU that suggests anything will change in 2007.

WOW! Because CW came in on the tail end of recruiting on TW's last season as coach. The recruiting season was 1/2 over. ON top of that CW tried to recruit while he was still coaching with the Pat's.

Tressel was hired in early January, 2001, thus had only four weeks for that recruiting class, so only had the 2002 class as "his" when we won the 2002 national title. So, your point is...?

I think he was doing something Weis hasn't even sniffed yet... oh ya, winning one of these:

ND fan = Cubs fan

Wait until you see us next year.

I seem to remember hearing this story before when Ty won early with Bob Davie's recruits.

Can't wait to see Pope Charlie try to win with his team next year.

Going to be a lean year in South Bend I would venture to guess.

ND had 32 Freshmen on roster this year - put another way, they have 28 Sophs on roster next year.
28 were true freshmen, 4 were redshirt freshmen.
They lose by my count 14 Seniors. 8 On Offense, most notably Quinn, Samardijza, McKnight and there are losses on the line. The numbers though may be deceptive, in the same manner that our D-number losses were last year. Losses in their defensive backfield and line are also well documentted - total of 6 on D depart for certain.
Unless Clausen is truly all-world the QB duties may fall between Frazer and Jones. Folks I hear talk up Frazer as coaches favorite, Jones as a better talent in play. Then you have the Bionic one.

Bottom line, I'm not sold that with relatively limited numbers of departures that they are going to be in for a full world of hurt next year. Think 9-3 or better.
