Notre Dame (football only discussion)

Living here in ACC country, the local "wisdom" is that the Big 10 and Pac 10 should be forced to expand and have a conference championship game.

Tell them hick fucks that the Big Ten had their conference championship game already this year...it was played on Nov 18th in Columbus.

What's even funnier is that you find this surprising!

ND the most loved/ HATED college football team in
America.

Uh, with all due respect, I think people are voting from a different perspective. They got blown out, not just beaten but blown out, by the only two respectable teams they played. They are not top 10 and they don't deserve a BCS bowl game. Wisconsin would blow them out.

Chief, it is oh so very easy to reduce everything to "they said that because they hate us." The reality is that the team sucks and it is looking more and more like defense is going to be a very lonely word in South Bend under this great offensive genius. They play in a BCS bowl game and a team that deserves to play there more is denied justice. Period.

1. ND got blown out by Michigan. Other than the first quarter ND was right there with USC. Had ND not dropped several key passes that game would have been very tight.
2.Defense- Other than 1 class, Ty's recruting was terrible. Charle simply has very little to work with exp. at CB and LB. If the defense does not get better in a few years then I will agree with you but Charlie has brought in just one recruiting class that he can call his.
3. Wisconsin? They played one good team all year. And people dogged ND's schedule.....
4. BCS game- Blame the BIG10!

If that's what you call hanging with USC, then you might just be delusional. What I saw was utter domination. It appeared to me that the only reason it was as close as it was is USC got bored toying with you. ND was totally outclassed in that game.

Yeah and had USC broke a few more tackles, they would have scored more points. If my mom had balls, she'd be my dad. If GT would have punched another one in you'd have lost 3. What's your point? Your receivers didn't get the job done against scUM, us in the Fiesta or USC. See a pattern here? Your team as a whole = not THAT good. They had you guys from the coin toss and it never looked any different than ND getting completely owned. ND does NOT deserve a BCS game.

Personally NDChief I trace the debacle of the first half to the call to go for it on 4th and 9 from the USC 29, instead of taking the field goal opportunity.
ND as a result of that decision ceded reasonable field position to start USC's first drive, and ended looking up at an ever expanding advantage for the home team during the first half.
They never really got within striking of overtaking SC after that point. It was like TSUN vs Ohio State, only worse, in fact much worse.

1. Right there? :slappy: Only in the wacky world of Notre Dame "a close loss is a win" football.

For the rest of us, 14-0, 21-3 midway through the second quarter, never closer than 11 points afterwards and 20 points down midway through the fourth quarter isn't "right there", it's getting your ass kicked. And that is what football genius Charlie Weis said as well.

2. Charlie Weis has his second class under his belt. He has recruited well. It's not the talent.

3. Wisconsin played TSUN close at TSUN, Notre Dame got blown out by TSUN at home. Put the scores in the equation and the computers have Wisconsin over Notre Dame. By the way, Navy, North Carolina, Air Force, Stanford, Army?

4. Uh, Big Ten? No. BCS rules that allow only three teams from a conference to play in BCS bowls are the thing keeping Wisconsin out of a BCS bowl.

Oh yeah, and the incredibly unjust agreement to let America's most consistently over-rated team lose yet another BCS Bowl in a blow out.

Good call. I noticed this as the game went on as well. Charlie the Genius left at least 9 points on the field by eschewing the easy 3s and going for it on 4th down. What makes this even more confusing is that he was attempting the 4th down conversion against the one coach who most CFB honks hail as being the Ying to Charlie's Yang, as Petey is widely considered a bright defensive guy. I mean, Charlie should know which side his bread is buttered on, because while Tom Brady was a great player on his Super Bowl teams in New England, Adam Vinatieri got him his bling.

You think Tressel would ever pass up a FG and the lead on the road in a big game?

Says alot about where the two teams have been and where they're headed.

Yeah, and aside from the 28-0 first quarter we put on Northern Illinois, they hung with us, too. :roll1:

Yeah, and that "good team" was the same one that pimp-fucked you on your own field, while Wisconsin lost to them by half the margin, on the road no less...

anyone else here rooting for wake forest? NoD would go another season without beating a team that finishes in the top-25 if wake wins. gtech is ranked either 22nd or 23rd in the polls and would likely fall below 25.

go deacs!

My thoughts exactly.

So, it looks like 3 of the 4 at large BCS bids will be scUM, Boise State, and LSU. The 4th is between ND, Louisville, and the Arkansas/Florida loser. Personally, if Florida loses, I think they should get it. I'd rather see ND get it over Louisville. The Big East is a joke and has been exposed the last 2 weeks as such.
