Four-star prospect invents Notre Dame recruiting visit

Notre Dame finds itself again in the midst of a fabricated story. Stanley Williams, a four-star running back prospect from Monroe, Ga., loved the on-campus visit he made to Notre Dame on Saturday. "The visit went great," Williams told Will Biggers of Blue and Gold Illustrated, Notre Dame's recruiting site for 247Sports.com. Williams recounted his conversation with Notre Dame tight ends coach Scott Booker, who said that an offer could be on the way soon. ... The trip went really well, according to Williams. The trip also never happened. Williams fabricated the trip from start to finish, from the fact that he traveled to South Bend at all to, of course, the in-person meeting with Booker regarding his pending scholarship offer.

Gunner Kiel's paperwork at ND is complete...he should be enrolling later today.

Might QB Gunner Kiel transfer from Notre Dame?
Looking into the crystal ball has always been difficult when Gunner Kiel is involved. His name clouds the water, making it impossible to see the future. This was true when he was committed to Indiana and then LSU. Of course, he eventually landed in South Bend at the 11th hour and 59th minute when he enrolled early at Notre Dame just before classes started. Now, it is even more difficult to determine whether or not Kiel will stay at Notre Dame for the duration of his college career. He faces an uphill battle at quarterback with Everett Golson presumably holding the position down for next three years. Kiel also will feel the heat from a talented young early enrollee named Malik Zaire. Kiel's prospects at playing time do not look good, but is it enough to transfer?

This is going to be a disappointing year for Notre Dame fans, I think.

Every year without a National Championship is disappointing for Notre Dame fans :wink2: Ridiculous expectations and all that. Plenty of stumbling blocks on this schedule though.

Got back from the Spring Game last night. I got to see the Buckeye Spring Game and the Irish Spring Game this year, both were great experiences. Irish Spring Game attendance was only 31,600, 6000 less than the Buckeye game, but right in line with what they did last year. It was also a blistering 36 degrees and windy as hell, I definitely preferred the weather in Cinci as oppose to South Bend.

Defensively the Irish still look to be very good. They're returning all but 3 starters on defense and there doesn't appear to be any glaring weaknesses with the new starters. The defense didn't give up any TDs until late in the spring game, and it ended up being 3rd string against 3rd string. Offensively they didn't show much, pretty vanilla. They ran the ball more than Ohio State did in their spring game, and with the defense being stout they didn't break off many big runs. The passing game will be without Tyler Eifert, however Troy Niklas filled in well at TE and made a couple good snags. Davaris Daniels looks to be the go to WR with TJ Jones providing another target. CJ Prosise is a safety convert and had the only TD of the game. They expect him to get some snaps. The QBs missed some wide open receivers on a couple deep routes, probably due to the wind, missing usually long or short depending on the direction they were going. Kicking game didn't look great either.

Overall the Irish look to be similar to the way they played last season. I expect the offense and defense to both be a little better as they've returned most of their starters from a young team. The biggest losses will be at RB and TE as the Irish don't have any proven players at either position from last year, a lot of inexperience but good talent waiting in the wings.
