Notre Dame (football only discussion)

Hmmmmmm, the SEC wouldn't take Okie? Seems like a good fit - mediocre academics - flexible ethics - top 25 program year in and year out - and along with aTm it would have given the SEC a big footprint in a big TV/media market. Would have really put an end to Texas plans to set up a two-horse conference where they got the bulk of the revenue. Maybe they don't mind being one half of the Big Two.

Oklahoma wants to help it's academic reputation and the SEC would do nothing to help that. Still there was contact back 2010 as part of the potential package with A&M (no Okie Jr). Boren did everything possible to make the Pac1x come to fruition and after that deal fell through came to the B1G hat in hand asking for entrance. There was also contact with the ACC about possible entry.

Not sure what you mean here. Clemson's academic rep is pretty low in comparison to the rest of the ACC,
And leaving the ACC for the B12 would have hurt it even further.

Believe it or not the FSU & Clemson administrations like palling around with the good academic institutions of the ACC as it enhances the rep of their schools (see Oklahoma above).

but conference athletics are not ruled by the presidents, but by the ADs and therein lies the huge difference between the Big Two, the SEC, ACC and the BIG.
Terry Don Phillips & Randy Spetman are not going to determine which conference their respective schools (Clemson & FSU) end up in. Period.

The B12 is a dumpster fire. There is a reason that everybody who could get out did get out and schools like Oklahoma were pounding on every conference door they could find begging to be let in.

Seminole & Tiger fans may be stupid enough to go slum in the dust bowl trailer park just to spite the NC schools...but the school administrators aren't nearly so foolish.

The Big East is a dumpster fire. The Big 12 is merely a disfunctional football conference reality show.

Unfortunately, it appears I will be reduced to pulling for scUM to derail the ND hype train next week before we have to hear the masses of sheeple tell us ND is "back", again. Sparty seems to have failed us. :ohwell:

On the bright side, if the skunkbears beat them it will be like kicking both of their asses later this year when TSUN comes to the Shoe.

Fuck Michigan and fuck ND for putting me in this situation. Fucking Sparty. :shake:

Can't we all just hope for some kind of natural disaster to happen @ Notre Dame killing all involved? You know like an earthquake(not too much to ask for with hoke showing up.)

Looks like starting 5th year senior Jamoris Slaughter, who was the backbone of a young secondary, is out for the rest of the year with a torn Achilles. Thats the 3rd loss this year in a now very inexperienced secondary joining Austin Collinsworth and Lo Wood. I expect the better passing offenses will be able to take advantage of the defense down the road.

Matthias Farley, a converted WR, will replace Slaughter. The two new cornerbacks this year are converted running backs and WRs respectively, KeiVarae Russel and Bennett Jackson. The other member of the secondary, Zeke Motta, is a Senior and the only member of the secondary with previous starting experience before this year.

It's either dealing with the possibility of a 1 loss Meatchicken jumping tOSU or having to endure more ND fans popping up from their hibernation. Anyway every player could be ruled ineligible before Saturday?

Maybe, but Hoke would say something about a heavy price blah... blah...And I don't think ND would bother reporting it.
