Actually, shortly after the snap he was about to get hit by an ND Linebacker flying toward him. It looke like he was tryiing to throw the ball away or hope his receiver was able to grab it over the middle rather than take the sack for a big loss.
I think the MSU coaching is more at fault here than Stanton, they shouldn't have let up after 17 points on ND, especially after they let ND get back in the game last year too after easing up.

Bob Davie said the whole game ND was going to make a comeback. Charlie only needed halftime to prepare!:wink2:

Wow...he did, forgot all about that. I must admit, after the 0-17 score early in the game, when Davie began saying all that I was thinking "Bob, you're nuts, this team doesn't want the win." Davie should add that to his resume now, maybe hes not the complete idiot we thought he was...well, not complete anyway
Hey, I just remembered. Did anyone pick up on Herbie's comment to Brent near the end of the 1st half about the "hand signals?" It definitly reaked of a subtle pot shot at USC after the controversy with Brent and him "giving away" their signals during the game he called last week. I was dying there, I wonder if he was waiting all night just to sneak that in. I couldn't believe that crap with USC after I heard it this week, Herbie's little comment was so fitting.

while iowa is ranked too high, nd certainly is, too. this season may be just like last season for notre dame: no victory against a team that finishes in the top-25 and at least one blowout loss. nd has another blowout loss coming with usc. mark it down.

After the Michigan game last week I would agree with you there, but if ND plays the same way they did in the 2nd half against MSU, and the way they played USC last year, USC will lose in Southern Cal this time. The biggest factor in the USC game last year was Reggie Bush, the Irish had no answer to stop him, he pretty much dodged his way out of every tackle on the way to the endzone. Leinart was stopped 3 times at the goalline at the end too before Bush helped him on the 2nd effort. This USC team is still good, they have the talent no doubt, but if the Irish play with emotion again and Brady stays consistant they won't be able to pull it off again. On the other hand, if Brady regresses once more and the team doesn't want it, they'll definitly get blown out.

Looks like someone has immersed himself in the ND kool-aid.

You guys shot your luck wad. No other team in CFB is capable of a choke like MSU. Its got nothing to do with Quinn. If USC gets a 16+ point lead they'll just put the pedal down and embarrass you guys the way MSU should have.

You can't hide that defense.

Like I said, if ND comes out emotionless like the UM game and inconsistant, yes, USC will walk all over them. MSU did give up the lead, but the Irish had to make some plays too. Brady was overthrowing all his receivers in the 1st half and was jumping around in the pocket like when he was a freshman. 2nd half he was more consistant and looked more comfortable in the pocket again.
All I'm saying is if they play consistant ball like the Irish did in the 2nd half, and like the USC game last year, they'll take down USC this time. ND basically has the same squad back they had last year, and while USC still has plenty of talent from great recruiting they're missing the weapon that did the damage last year: Reggie Bush.
