Notre Dame (football only discussion)

Looking at the number of bowl berths and the rule that says all 7 win teams must be selected first, Ntre Ame has to hope for some help to even get into a bowl when they get smoked by USC......

Certainly they would be the first 6-6 to be selected (let's not kid ourselves), but last year no 6-6 teams went to a bowl game. Right now there are 62 teams with 6 or more wins not counting Ntre Ame. Navy has already accepted a bid because they have a contract with the San Diego Credit Union whateveritscalled Bowl.

Teams also on the 6 win bubble include:

Virginia, Colorado, Louisville, Auburn, fUCLA, Arizona State, Memphis, Southern Miss, Akron, Bowling Green, Hawaii (who already has 6 wins but can win 7 very easily), and most of the Sun Belt (figuring that 3 of those probably make it to at least 6 wins).

I think if Ntre Ame gets blasted and one of those first 6 get to 6 wins and do it without getting hammered in their final game, Ntre Ame could be dicey in getting a bowl bid.

Any team that loses to this team ought to be forced to shit in their own mouths.

Snowballing Down Hill Irish Season :tongue2:

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Notre Dame football players were pelted by snowballs from fans sitting in the student section during their loss to Syracuse on Saturday.

"To throw snowballs at their own team, I didn't think that was a smart thing to do. I guess (they thought) it was funny," defensive tackle Pat Kuntz said after Syracuse upset the Irish 24-23.

I am kicking myself right now for not posting it sooner.

When I saw it, the first thought in my mind was, why throw it at the players? Why not aim for the coach? After all, he makes for a nice target.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't they turn down a lesser bowl bid several years ago because "Notre Dame doesn't play in lesser bowls"? Now they'll be begging and lucky to get into one...how times have changed.

If I remember correctly I had ND winning 7 games and with 2 left that is still a possibility. The thing that [censored]es me off at this point is that they blew 3 games with half time double digit leads.

Way to many coaching errors, penatlies and an o-line that did not improve at all. Fire his ass....

While firing his ass would remove at least 100 lbs, you really need to remove both his asses, his vast belly and his even larger ego. They make special trucks with 12 foot tall tires to carry such a load, but they cost a lot. I think that's part of the problem with the buyout.

Nevertheless, ND COULD stumble it's way to 7 wins if it can find somebody equally miserable in a bowl game. But there's no reason to think that this will happen. Most of the teams they could play in a bowl will have a decided schematic advantage when they play ND. Ironically, this is one of the many truths that have finally been discovered.

I wonder what if old Charlie goes home every night and cries.....
