Looking at the number of bowl berths and the rule that says all 7 win teams must be selected first, Ntre Ame has to hope for some help to even get into a bowl when they get smoked by USC......
Certainly they would be the first 6-6 to be selected (let's not kid ourselves), but last year no 6-6 teams went to a bowl game. Right now there are 62 teams with 6 or more wins not counting Ntre Ame. Navy has already accepted a bid because they have a contract with the San Diego Credit Union whateveritscalled Bowl.
Teams also on the 6 win bubble include:
Virginia, Colorado, Louisville, Auburn, fUCLA, Arizona State, Memphis, Southern Miss, Akron, Bowling Green, Hawaii (who already has 6 wins but can win 7 very easily), and most of the Sun Belt (figuring that 3 of those probably make it to at least 6 wins).
I think if Ntre Ame gets blasted and one of those first 6 get to 6 wins and do it without getting hammered in their final game, Ntre Ame could be dicey in getting a bowl bid.
