Dear Sponsors:
We at NBC are committed to keeping our advertising prices competitive. Where possible, we have abstained from price increases for the upcoming Fall Primetime season. Contact your account representatives to check out our exciting new line up.

While we hold the line on advertising for our other products, we regret to inform you that the price of sponsorship for the Notre Dame football season will double, effective immediately. We did reserve the right to make this change to our terms. Check the fine print of your contract.

This change has been necessitated by the huge increase in demand for advertising during this highly popular programming. While the ratings for households who watched in previous years continues to plummet, the ratings for other households continues to climb. We in the television business call this "The Challenger Effect", as our viewers find coverage of disasters especially compelling. Either that or most people hate Notre Dame with the intensity of a super nova and love to see them fail.

Either way, pay up.

Sincerely,

Seth Winter

ROFL!

BTW has anyone checked out the ratings for ND this year?

Can you imagine if ND sucking azz actually increases ratings?

What if NBC renews the contract after '10 because ND consistently losing is actually better for them financially?

Good lord...

I would believe it, Irish haters tuning in to see them go 0-4, Irish lovers tuning in to see them try to get a touchdown. Sometimes really bad teams get as much face-time as the good teams.

From this weeks Mailbag (SI's Mandel)

SI.com - Writers - College Football Mailbag (cont.) - Wednesday September 26, 2007 11:52AM

My dad is a subway alum from New York. I was raised on Notre Dame. Here's a question: Why should I be a fan anymore? I have spent countless dollars on tickets and memorabilia. I am hated by friends and co-workers. I consistently expect national championships but clearly couldn't expect that at a Division II level. I DON'T KNOW WHY I CARE ANYMORE. My life has been made worse by this team -- people like me less, I feel completely empty inside every fall, I waste hard earned money. If I was a fan of Star Wars I would also be ridiculed by many but at least I know how that ends. This is a never-ending torment. ...

How sad, fans like this make me shake my head. He thinks he has it bad, I've been going to games since '93, first game I ever went to was the last game of the '93 season when ND was undefeated and lost to friggin' Boston College :shake: If he feels down, you can imagine how lucky I felt after that one. I've been to some other hearthbreakers too, '05 USC, '00 overtime game against #1 Nebraska, the '05 Michigan State overtime loss. Seen a lot of great games too, wins against Tennessee, Michigan, Georgia Tech, and more. The team has been up and down for the last 14 years, and more down than up, but you can't get down about it like that. The SI sports writer is right, College Football is great because of the loyalty and the emotion it conveys. Notre Dame will win again, maybe not this season, but I'm gonna feel sorry for the first decent team that suffers a loss to this squad.

And that dickwad from Mandel's mailbag sums up subway Alumni in a nutshell...while whining it's someone else's fault no one can stand you, of course. If they aren't the most hated and biggest fairweather pieces of crap fans you've ever seen, you just haven't seen enough yet.

Note: this post has nothing to do with ulukinatme above, just the assbucket in the mailbag.

Fighting Irish fans can take pride in one thing...Charlie Weis has them back in the top 10. Their current streak of five losses ranks #7. Chuckie, we salute ya! Don't you change! Just stay the way you are!

ND's 6-game spin is now the fourth longest in the country (FIU has lost 16, Utah St and Colo St have lost 10, and Middle Tenn St and Temp have lost seven).

It is within your power to end your torment. Turn away from the dark side.

Haha, born and raised in Ohio all my life, but my family has always been heavily Irish. Family has graduated there, they give a lot of money and support the university still. Yeah, its sad to see the subway alum that can't handle one bad season, but most of us saw this one coming. Its hard to watch, but you still gotta support your team in the good times and the bad.
