The lack of caring about academics is Kelly's forte. Tony Pike spent 5 full years at UC and wasn't close to graduating.

I don't think Kelly's academic record at UC was that bad...and Pike's first two years were under Dantonio. So if blame for him not being close to a degree after five years, I would think that Coach D would share some of that blame...though, I would place most of that on the kid. Coaches aren't/shouldn't be academic advisors. at some point the 20 year old needs to grow up...

or pay somebody to write their papers like they do at ND. :)

[Free Shoes font]South Bend: The offending players were brought before the Athletic Director and were immediately suspended from the Summer Games team. Coach Brian Kelly stated that he believed that since the violations took place while the players were on the Summer Games team and they were punished appropriately, they will be eligible for football.[/Free Shoes font]

Couldn't happen to a better group of people and football coach.

Although, having been through the Tat-5 situation, Clarett and Troy and all of that, hard for me to believe it's 'scandalous' when we're basically talking about young adults going off and doing stupid young adult things on their own.

If the stuff I'd done when I was 18-22 was public record, well ... I'm not going to throw stones in my glass house.

I agree with that were this the only case. There does seem to be a systemic pattern to all the cheating going on at ND. A lot of smoke for it not to somehow be condoned and possibly organized.

Plus, it lays bare the ridiculous notion that ND doesn't wade into the shallow end of the SAT pool for football players like every other big time school out there. Plus it's ND. When the most sanctimonious, holier-than-thou football school out there gets into trouble (AGAIN), I'm going to slow down and gawk at the wreckage. I have to admit though that Kelly is the frickin' teflon Don. What does he have to do to be held responsible for ANYTHING that goes on in his program? Does he have pics of the head priests diddling little boys?
