Others feel that his extended digit was just his attempt at increasing his conductivity chances as a human lighting rod, his secret electricity fetish being poorly concealed...

Actually, he was noting for posterity his first touchdown of the season--6 games in.
First rushing TD for him, he threw one in for a TD last week before coming out =P Either way, offense was pretty ugly Saturday. I don't know if Weis just wants Clausen to keep his throws short for safety purposes, or if the receivers down field aren't getting open, or Clausen is choosing the easy throw, but the offense looked bad again the entire game. The running game wasn't there, rarely was there a hole open. Protection wasn't bad, just a couple sacks, most of the time Clausen was sitting in the pocket and not finding anything down field open. Was hoping to see Golden Tate more, UCLA's defense wasn't caught off guard though. Several times they tried a Play Action long pass to Tate, only to find him well covered, sometimes double covered.

A tough win on the road against an experienced UCLA team (more than 5,000 seniors on campus plus lots of grad students) but brillant field leadership by Heisman Trophy candidate Claussen pulled out another miracle.

The Team followed the stategic enhancement strategy outlined by Coach of the Century Chalie Weiss and hitched up their pants leaving little or no room for below the belt punches by the bruins. The offense literally pulled down the thunder from the sky, scoring 20 points in less than three quarters against a defense that held Utah to 44 points. The defense was a bit shaky in the early going giving up 6 points on two field goals to a team that had steamrolled to zero points on the road just two weeks ago.

This game puts the Irish back in the BCS picture, possibly a chance at the NC game if USC upsets Cal. Claussen is sure to get a look from the Heisman committee, too bad the coverage was so limited on a game of such importance or he'd be a shoe in.

One things for sure, now that the Irish know they're bowl bound Charlie Weiss can begin putting the football genius to work. With three months for Charlie to plan you can only pity the other team.

Cinci, I think your post is wrong. I worry that after the win, ND clearly looks bowl bound, CW is going to have to fight the temptation to bench all of his starters to keep them fresh for the title game, or he runs the risk of getting upset by a lesser team.

Fiu's take on the game. :wink2:

You didn't watch Notre Dame beat UCLA because you were too busy watching the Florida-LSU classic, or you had an eye on Ohio State's clinic against Purdue, or you were checking out Missouri against Nebraska, or you got into Stanford's all-timer against USC. So you don't have to try to find a replay somewhere, let me describe the experience of watching the Irish and Bruin offenses. Take a pen. It doesn?t have to be anything fancy, an ordinary Bic will do. Preferably black. Stick it in your ear and push. Just when you hit something hard, give it a quick shove until you feel a crunch or a pop, and then keep pushing until it's inserted entirely in your skull, while leaving a little room so you can still catch some tones from the Notre Dame fight song.

There's no truth to the rumor that Karl Dorrell sent Pete Carroll the Chocolate Indulgence Basket from FTD for taking the focus away ? Again, you probably didn't see the game, so you have no clue just what a horrific performance UCLA came up with. Notre Dame generated 94 passing yards and 46 on the ground. That's 140 yards of total offense, and the Irish still won by 14. Do you have any clue how hard that is to do?
