Nick Saban (ex-HC Alabama Crimson Tide)

Interesting theory is that he's not really looking to leave his program but is pretty much over these lunatic Alabama fans. This is his shot across the bow to them to back off of him and his family and keep their fucking distance or he will leave. He already has the million dollar raise sitting on his desk, so it can't be up about renegotiating his renegotiation.

Is he stupid enough to think that #1 they will ever change, period #2 they are smart enough to evaluate situations and respond like adults #3 flirting with another school won't just make them all more insane?

+1

The reported imminent resignation of Mack Brown at Texas spurred rumors Saban could bolt and pushed Alabama to take action, sources told Finebaum. In March, though, Saban received a raise and contract extension through 2020 worth $5.62 million a year and said it represented his intention to finish his career in Tuscaloosa.
Still, there has been speculation that Texas would be willing to outpay Alabama for Saban. However, another source told ESPN's Brett McMurphy that if Saban leaves Alabama, it "won't be because of money" and that the coach and the school are "always in discussions" about extending the deal each year.

And, on cue...I give you

We are Alabama. We don’t deserve this crap. Let’s spend the money and go get a real coach that runs the spread. I’m tired of seeing us play this boring brand of football.

I don't understand what he thinks he's getting into at Texas? The school is academically superior but the calm, SXSW chill hipster bros aren't the one forking over money and going bezerk over UT football.

He's dealing with these blacked out idiots

Plus you're doubling the size of the rabid fan base. The sidewalk fan population is through the roof.

I'm not sure that picture is getting your point across.
They look like fairly normal and stable people to me...

I can't tell if that website is an exercise in Poe's Law... but this part had me in stitches for a couple of minutes:
Also need to investigate kicker….seems he might have been in mob/Vegas pockets

When Nick confessed to the WSJ this past summer that the Alabama job had "special pressure," this is what he was talking about. 60-6 over five seasons with three national titles is somehow inconceivably not good enough for a lot of Alabama fans. Bottom line, no matter what Saban does, he'll never be Bear Bryant. It's a culture not unlike the Paterno-worship in Happy Valley.

Hypothetically, if Saban stayed and won three of the next five 'ships that'd give him 6 in 12 total seasons at Bama, exactly as many titles as Bear Bryant won and in less than half the time. Anyone think the Bama faithful would give up their houndstooth for a Saban spring practice straw hat?

Didn't think so. The mythology has somehow become bigger than the man ever was.

Any head coach at a top-5 program (and I include Ohio State in this category) will be bedeviled by lunatic fans with outlandish expectations. It comes along with making $5 million a year to coach a boys' game. If Saban or anyone else thinks they'll escape that by going from one elite program to another, they're nuts.

Yes, there's some of it everywhere. That being said, it's a lot worse at some places than others and probably worst of all at Alabama. This is a school where Bill Curry had rocks with death threats thrown through his living room window.

As I outlined earlier, I think the Texas job comes with a lot of headaches of its own: big money boosters wanting access to the team, meddling trustees, unrealistic expectations and a shit ton of obsessed t-shirt alumni. It's also a school with a solid President, fairly powerful faculty and an alumni base of whom almost everyone I've known has a life and doesn't take football too seriously. That's different than an Auburn or Alabama where the entire university is geared first and foremost around the football programs, football boosters run the university (more an Auburn thing), and the degenerates in the state literally have nothing (except perhaps rasslin' racin' and roosterin') to take their attention away from their football obsession.

Texas has some lunatic fans. Alabama has lunatic fans.

1st Bold - dont forget the time suck that is the LHN... I can't see Saban doing some of the shit Mack does for LHN

2nd Bold - It will be interesting to see if Tejas is really ready to sell its sole and start going at football the way the SEC does... ie with blatant disregard for the NCAA rules. I cant really see that happening from an administration stand point. Everyone here is basically saying its a done deal, but they are glossing over all the "issues" that bama swept under the rule that Tejas might not.
