Nick Saban (ex-HC Alabama Crimson Tide)

Some dopey questions about this:

1. Did all those NFL teams really give Bama consent/license to use their logos?

2. What's the significance of "1936" as the check number on every check?

1. Consent? CONSENT? Nick Saban don't need no stinkin' CONSENT!

2. It's was the total combined SAT score for all 11 players.

Even though the scoreboard looked like a Bama domination. 21 of the points are from quick scores, atypical for Bama. Their defense was as good as I'd expected, but the O-line really struggled. I think when Bama plays a team with a dominant defense, they struggle to score. I expect a lot of field goal games for this team. My guess as of now, is they loose 1 regular season, lose in the SEC championship and don't end up in the title game. Last night Georgia, Clemson, even Florida and LSU all looked like a more 'whole' team, particularly Clemson. I just don't see a 3-peat.

It may be "fashionable" to rip Saban on this board; however, his record speaks for itself. He is probably the #1 coach in all of college football (Urban is a close #2). Saban has been a proven winner at every place he has been (with the exception of the Miami Dolphins); i.e. Toledo, Michigan State, LSU, and Alabama.

Little known fact:

In 1990 when Florida Coach Urban Meyer was the linebackers coach at Illinois State — a bad linebackers coach, he insists — he was looking to return to his native Ohio. He called Nick Saban, who had recently been hired as Toledo’s coach, to see if he could have a job on his staff. In the days before cellphones, Meyer wrangled a home number for Saban and ended up speaking with his wife, Terry, for about 10 minutes.

“She was sold,” Meyer recalled with a smile. He told his wife, Shelley, “We’re going to Toledo.”

Saban never called. The Meyers went to Colorado State. Terry Saban has not forgotten.

“She was right about that,” Nick Saban said. “And she lets me know from time to time that she was right.”

Chandler Champion was named 2013 Miss Alabama in June. Later this month, Champion, who attends the University of Alabama, will compete at the Miss America pageant. Winning the title once held by Katherine Webb takes a special kind of woman and since the starting quarterback of the Crimson Tide is otherwise attached, Champion decided to go with this Roll Tide-inspired dress for the “show me your shoe” parade. According toAL.com:

It has a fitted bodice pants jumpsuit that has a full houndstooth oversized float with the Alabama Football National Championship emblem in the center. The float will hang from the back of the car in the parade. The front panels of the float are trimmed out with the all famous “Roll Tide” wording.

The shoes are also pretty spectacular. As is that tiny Nick Saban hat. Alabama really is a magical place.

Can we just let the deep South fucking secede again. Anything they have of value (the NIH, the rocket center in Hunstsville--both ironically funded by Yankee federal tax dollars) along with any doctors, professors, scientists or others of any worth will all come North in short order.

In three generations, the place would resemble the society in Idiocracy.

Bethesda, MD is in the Deep South?
