Above image being circulated to Bama targets and recruits. [censored]ing brilliant.
Saban is an absolute monster on the recruiting trail.

:slappy: I'm really not sure I'd want JaMarcus Russel associated with my name if I was him.

Of which there are over a dozen and they've been sent to recruits since urban took over. The above examples are simply some recent ones. Many have been more direct in their pitch to recruits.

How many other players on that page made more NFL money than Russel?

yeah... but its probably less than they make in college :) I agree, it would be interesting to look at the longevity of those players.

a chunk of those guys were already at LSU before Saban got there.

at least 2 are straight up lies.

Demetrius Byrd didn't get to LSU until 2007 after signing with FIU and then going the Juco route.

Trindon Holiday was still a junior in high school when Saban left us.

But did he not, maybe, potentially, outside chance of OFFERING him?!?!?!

offer? yes. and he did sign with the school, so ok we'll count him.

but Demetrius Byrd signed with FIU out of high school, not LSU.
the. went to a Juco, and wasn't signed on until 2007.
Saban had nothing to do with Byrd.

Maybe he coached him over the phone like "Hey, we'd like to offer you a schollie, but you gotta get your grades up. YO CAN DO IT! Study harder."

an SI article on SEC scheduling

? LSU and Florida, which are 5-5 in their past 10 meetings, have both been ranked in the Top 25 when they met in nine of those meetings. Auburn and Georgia were both ranked in the Top 25 in four of their past 10 meetings. Alabama and Tennessee have both been ranked in the Top 25 in one of their past 10 meetings. Arkansas and South Carolina have both been ranked in the Top 25 in one of their past 10 meetings.

? Since 2003, Auburn -- which had an annual game against Florida from 1945-2002 -- has had to face the SEC East heavyweight Gators and Bulldogs a combined 13 times in the regular season. LSU has faced Florida and Georgia a combined 13 times in the regular season during that span. Alabama has faced Florida and Georgia a combined seven times in the regular season since 2003.

LSU/Florida both ranked 9 of 10.
AU/UGA & Bama/Tenn games combine for 5 of 20 ranked matchups.

It says coached or recruited. Frankly, I'm surprised it's not higher. If you're counting people you recruited.....aren't you recruiting a huge majority of 4 and 5 star studs in the south? Just because a kid picked Florida or Texas over Bama/LSU doesn't mean you didn't recruit him.

You say premiere matchups, I say self perpetuating (with a little help from ESPN) cycle of overrated teams playing other overrated teams.

Example: Overrated team plays and loses to other overrated team, remains overrated because the other team was overrated.

in that case, how bad has Bama's schedule been when even the SEC teams they're playing aren't ranked.

They're just reaping the rewards of a conference that has won 7 straight championships. Until someone knocks the SEC off their thrown all of the overrated mid-level self perpetuating BS and terrible OOC scheduling is going to remain pretty much the same.
