NFL Rumors (Trades/Free Agents)

I still think Carr can be a pretty damn good NFL QB if he has a line in front of him. If that proposal came along, I'd say jump. You can get Branch or Brown at #8 to fill one of the holes on the atrocious lines. More line help with one of those 2 second rounders and add another OL in FA. Give Carr a line to work behind and I can see him becoming pretty successful in the NFL.

This is exactly what I'm thinking. Unfortunately, it makes too much sense and is too beneficial for the Browns for it to actually work out. We'd probably trade the 2 second rounders to move into the first to draft Olson from Miami just as Brown tears a knee ligament walking up to the podium to shake the commish's hand.

Looks like the Falcons have Schaub on the trading block and are wanting a 1st and 3rd...Not sure if they will get it, but that is the word at this point...

If the Falcons really think Schaub is worth a 1st and a 3rd, then he should be starting for them.

that is the best case scenario for Atl. they offered him the high tender ($2 million) and if someone were to sign him to an contract that is what they would have to give Atl. in return. However Atl. can work out any deal they like and trade Schaub to that team before he signs their contract. They are in a spot where they have to trade him this year or have a $2 million back-up or let him go after this next year for nothing. They are kind of cornered....

It?s a foregone conclusion that Nate Clements will become a very, very rich young man in the next 72 hours.

Also, it?s widely assumed that the Browns will be at or near the front of the Clements? line starting at 12:01 a.m. Friday.

And, according to sources on both sides of the equation, both parties are willing to do whatever it takes to turn that assumption into a reality.

A source close to Clements tells The OBR that Cleveland is ?far and away? the destination preferred by the sixth-year corner.

?If the money?s right, and close to anything anybody else offers, he?ll be coming home,? the source said of the Shaker Heights native...

With all of his off the field problems and the fact he has not exactly shown that he is a super stud on the field, I can't imagine any team wanting to gamble on him, or give up anything of value to acquire him. I think Tennessee is stuck with him.

Hey if Pacman is lucky enough to land in a place with a coach like Bill Belichick, the coach may be able to straighten out Pacmans problems, just like Belichick did for Corey Dillon.

no, but from what i hear from a buddy of mine that is a falcons fan, they were getting offers for 2nd rounders last year. someone might come in and make them an offer like that, but i would not be happy to see the browns make an offer like that. i like the idea of the houston trade better than this. If we could get carr and their 8 pick, plus their second round pick, that would be a deal i can't see them passing on nor would i want them to pass on that deal.

I don't remember Corey Dillon having these kinds of legal problems though. He was just a miserable prick to be around.

Atl. was offered a 1st last year but it was toward the end of the round. They may get the same type of offer this year, not getting a 1st and another pick.

Ohh, I definitely hate this trade for the Browns... I wouldn't even like to lose a 2nd rounder for him. I was just wondering if people who've seen him play actually think he's worth that kind of attention. Is this guy seriously potential Pro-bowl caliber?
Like jlb pointed out, if he was this good he should be starting. Considering next year he'll be an unrestricted FA, Atlanta needs to deal him now if they're going to. The better question is probably -- if Vick can't handle Petrino's system and audibles, could Schaub become the starter?
Of course, then wtf do you do with Vick? Even if you deal him, I'm sure there's a huge caphit. And this is why drafting a QB early in the 1st is a huge hit or miss.

I wasn't saying that Schaub isn't a good QB. Everything I've heard and seen about him indicates he can be a good NFL QB. My comment was meant to be more of a jab at the Falcons organization - who seem to have a decent QB on the bench while they continue to trot Vick out there every week.

I really wasn't trying to paint it that way either --just pointing out that he probably isn't an instant pro-bowl type player. I'm sure that he is pretty good -- given how interested a lot of teams are in getting him.

Maybe you didn't hear but about a month ago he did an interview with a magazine and thought if a team moved to Toronto it should be the Bills and ever since then he hasn't been really popular. My guess would be that since hes from the "U" and Toronto's lax policy on Marijuana that would be a good fit for him.
