NFL Rumors (Trades/Free Agents)

not shocked...I actually thought Mckinnely gave his all and am sorta disappointed he is leaving......As a Browns fan the thing that bothers me most is people who are disappointed Brian Russel is leaving, am I the only person jumping with joy he's no longer associated with or Defensive Secondary? I mean, for Gods sake, the guy came to us b/c he couldn't start at Minnesota anymore

Adam Archuleta's one-year tenure in Washington was a big disappiontment.
AP
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -- Adam Archuleta's tumultuous time with the Washington Redskins ended Tuesday night when he was traded to the Chicago Bears for a sixth-round draft pick, The Associated Press has learned. Continued...

Anybody wonder why the Skins can't consistently get back to the top half of the NFL?

Skins fans may believe this to be blasphemy, but I think that times may have passed Gibbs by. This isn't the 80's anymore and Joe Theisman isn't his QB and the HOGS aren't manning his O-Line for John Riggins. I think they need a fresh outlook from a coaching perspective and Snyder needs to keep his nose out of the day to day. Also, as highlighted here, they have made some really bad personnel decisions over the last 5 years or so. Bad contracts for over the hill players (Bruce Smith, Deion Sanders), overrated players (Randel El, Brandon Lloyd), bad trades (bailey for portis), etc. I think they can get back to being an elite team, but they need to basically clean house. Just my 2 cents.

After failing badly in Wash, Marty (and soon Norv) had good success in SD. Is it Gibbs or the endless mistakes with personnel?

Change the entire front office (can someone buy out Snyder? :p), and each of those coaches would be drafting 15-22 rather than the single digits.

Great point jwins. Personnel mistakes are the biggest problem for them. I hope they do get it turned around, being a life long Cowboys fan, I love that rivalry between those two teams.

Schaub Deal to Texans Imminent...

I was glad to hear that it was not the Browns making the trade. I am not sold on Schaub on being an improvement on what we already have in Cleveland, and would have hated to see them give up too much to get him, as apparently the Texans have just done. We'll see, he could prove to be the next Elway, but they better fix that shitty line of theirs too.

The Texans are in the process of acquiring Atlanta backup quarterback Matt Schaub, two NFL executives confirmed today.
After failing to sign free agents Jeff Garcia and Patrick Ramsey, the Texans turned their attention to Schaub, a restricted free agent who was so prized by the Falcons they tendered him the maximum contract that would require first- and third-round picks for any team that signed him to an offer sheet.

I think you're way wrong on Schaub....and if they get a 2nd rounder for him then it will just prove that the Raiders would be retarded to take Russell with the #1 pick.

If Matt Schaub, who has been in the league a couple years and has impressed during preseason games, is worth a 2nd rounder...there's no way Russell, whose claim to fame is carving up the NoD defense, should be #1 overall. Schaub > Russell.

You could be right, but to me he just hasn't proven anything. He's never won a game he started and his QB rating is under 70. If you are looking at potential, I see more potential with Russell. The guy is a freak with his size and has a cannon for an arm.

I'm going to have to agree with you Big Papa. No offense to you BN27 but Schaub has done nothing but prove when games mean absolutely nothing and there are a bunch of back-ups in that he can put up some stats(preseason games). That does not make Russell anymore proven than Schaub just that I think Russell has a much higher ceiling than that of Schaub.

I like what Nolan is thinking here, but don't think his timing is coincidental at all. If I invested 8 years and 80 million dollars in a guy, I would want the rules made better for him as well.

According to the Sacramento Bee, Mike Nolan thinks the league's pass-interference rules stink, and he wants them changed. Nolan would like to see two degrees of pass interference. Flagrant infractions should be spot-of-the-foul infractions, but the run-of-the-mill variety should only draw a 15-yard penalty, which is the way college football handles it.
