NFL Discussion (Official Thread)

The Packers were so good as a team on offense last year (and all things considered their D was not bad), even with replacing their center & Rodgers, I think they are the clear favorite in the NFC North. Their good coaching will help get them back to the playoffs as division champs.

C'mon man. There's one reason why they were good on offense.

NFL will allow teams to use alternate-color helmets again, starting in 2022

The NFL will bring back alternate-color helmets next year.

In a memo sent to teams this afternoon, the league announced a new policy that will give teams the opportunity to use two different helmets starting in the 2022 season, a popular move with fans who like alternate and throwback uniforms.

Teams can pair the second helmet with alternate, throwback or Color Rush uniforms, so long as they follow all league policies on ensuring that all alternate helmets are properly fitted, and that all players are provided with sufficient opportunity to wear the alternate helmets in practice prior to wearing them in a game.

NFL warning to teams: COVID-19 outbreaks among unvaccinated players could lead to forfeited games

The NFL has added an additional COVID-19 vaccination incentive for players, threatening forfeits and the loss of game checks if an outbreak among unvaccinated players causes an unresolvable disruption in the regular-season schedule.

Commissioner Roger Goodell informed clubs of the new policy Thursday in a memo. The league has encouraged vaccination for players but has not required it, per an agreement with the NFL Players Association.

Instead, the league has set up a series of incentives. As of Thursday, Goodell wrote, more than 75% of NFL players were at least partially vaccinated and more than half of the league's teams have player vaccination rates above 80%.

Unvaccinated players will be subject to severe protocols during training camp and the regular season, including daily testing, mask-wearing and travel restrictions. Thursday's memo made it clear that unvaccinated players could, in theory, be responsible for the losses of games and paychecks as well.

I honestly don't see any logic in the Patriots trying to start Cam right off the bat this season. Dude is washed, plus he is letting COVID-19 hold him at a competitive disadvantage. Might as well just name Mac Jones the guy now and see if he has what it takes. I think Jones, along with Zach Wilson, are the best value bets for ROY.

I like the Patriots to have a bounce-back season. They had a good defense, ST, and running game last year, even with a lot of opt-outs, and the 3rd-place schedule should make it a bit easier. Cam was just so bad they had no pass game/balance offensively and weren't dynamic at all. If Jones can even be halfway decent, he could lead New England back to the playoffs.

Did you catch that last Patriots pre season game? Cam doesn't look washed at all... And the 2020 Patriots WR corps was probably the worst of Belichek's tenure(most fans outside of New England couldn't even name an NE WR not named Julien Edelman:roll2:). Jacobi Meyers(I'll help with that name) and an elderly Edelman don't exactly strike fear in opposing defenses. Not to mention, Newton had to be the teams 2nd leading rusher to create any type of offense. But if he refuses the Covid19 vaccine, we may see more of Jones by default
