NFL Discussion (Official Thread)

I could understand it if the Cowboys were any good, but they suck. So...yeah.

Even if the Cowboys suck, they still have one of the most season ticket holders in the NFL. And professional sports is a business after all, I could see a problem if teams like the Panthers, Bengals, Chargers or the Lions were picked.

Watch: Greg Olsen's son gives thanks after heart transplant surgery

After former NFL tight end Greg Olsen announced his son needed a heart transplant, the family eventually found a donor for his son TJ. On Friday, Olsen said they found a match for his son’s heart and he would have surgery to get a new ticker.

According to the latest update from Olsen, TJ is out of surgery and beginning his recovery. In fact, TJ wanted the world to know how grateful he was for all of the thoughts and well wishes.

Olsen posted a video to Twitter with a message from his son and it can be seen below.

On Friday, Olsen took to Twitter to announce the good news on behalf of his family, saying they found a match.

“Day 8 - Today is a day of mixed emotions,” Olsen wrote on Twitter. “A day we have prayed for has arrived. We were alerted last night that there was a donor match for TJ to receive his heart transplant. Walking our little boy, with tears of hope and fear in our eyes, was one of the toughest moments of our lives.

“We ask for everyone’s prayers for TJ and his amazing team of doctors and nurses. TJ has a long road ahead of him but today is a huge step forward. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the outpouring of support through this entire journey. The Olsen Family.”

So Aaron Rodgers is officially not showing up for mandatory minicamp. The Packers have to stand their ground and not trade him. Rodgers is being unreasonable and should be fined and pay the full price of not meeting his contractual obligations. He needs to be forced to retire for the year in order to get away from Green Bay.

How is he exactly being unreasonable? They draft his replacement, when they could've(and should've) drafted another weapon for him at a skill position. He shuts up and plays nice, and plays out of his mind last season with Adams and guys who are 3rd and 4th WR options at other teams. Now he has all of the leverage and the FO doesn't know what to do and is painting themselves as victims and fans fall for it every time and choose management over players. The Packers have every right to stand their ground, and watch their team go from being a favorite in the NFC North to falling behind Chicago and Minnesota. GB has little to no leverage and they know it, especially since no notable FAs consider going there, so they can only acquire talent through the draft. They lucked up in getting Rodgers after Favre, but have done nothing to help Rodgers out and thats on them

Rodgers has no legal grounds for not fulfilling his end of the contract he signed. He is obligated to fulfill his commitments or pay the penalty. There is nothing the team has done seriously wrong. Rodgers is acting unreasonably.

All this BS about the Packers leadership, you would think they had a crap team instead of the best offense in the NFL and #1 seed in the NFC. You don't get to be the best in the league with one great player.

I've not seen a worse case of "grass is greener on the other side of the fence" myopia. That is if you take Rodgers at his word and he truly has ill will & blames the organization for him wanting out. Part of me suspects this is all just a smokescreen to cover for his new girlfriend who doesn't want to go anywhere near Green Bay if she can avoid it.

I don't think Green Bay should actually trade Rodgers. But if they were really wanting to stick it to him, they could consider trading him straight up for Deshaun Watson. If Rodgers thinks the Packers are bad, he hasn't seen anything like the Texans organization.

Hes holding out, he doesn't need legal grounds. He's not the 1st player to hold out, and won't be the last. And superstars work hand in hand with FO on successful teams so that they're on the same page. Same thing happened in NE with Brady! He was pissed that they drafted his heir apparent when he knew that he still had good years left to pursue a Super Bowl, get him weapons, thats what Rodgers is saying! Of course Kraft consulted with Brady on drafts and trades, I'm not saying he made the FO decisions but he was in on the moves and he earned that respect and so has Rodgers. And if you don't think QB is important when you have a top 3 one, then watch what happens to GB if they choose to trade him out of spite! The reason they haven't moved him is because they know Love isn't ready and Rodgers is still playing at an elite level.
And the reason they were a #1 seed in the NFC is primarily due to Rodgers. And the fans and FO know it. Rodgers absolutely has all of the leverage in this. Funny thing is, the offensive weapons in Houston aren't all that much better than GB's(except Davonte Adams). And an elite QB can make an offense work, look at what Andrew Luck did his last few years with little help, or even Matthew Stafford in Detroit when it looked like the FO wasn't even trying. But like clockwork, fans jump to defend management
