NFL Discussion (Official Thread)

Made it look easy. He has the stats to win MVP, but he wouldn't get my vote.

Mahomes is the MVP in my mind. Rodgers had a cakewalk this season in that offense. Nobody was stopping their ground game, and that made it really easy for him to run play action and have guys wide open all the time. Mahomes had a higher degree of difficulty to put up the stats he had, and he lost 1 game as opposed to 3. Mahomes would put up even better numbers than Rodgers if he was QB of this GB offense.

With as easy as it has been the past couple months for Green Bay, I think they are going to be in for a rude awakening when they have to play serious playoff teams. The level of defense is going to be much tougher the next time the Packers take the field.

In spite of an expanded format, the Fins officially miss the playoffs at 10-6. They finished a full 2+ games better than two teams that will make the playoffs out of the NFC. But still a far better season than when they were supposedly tanking last year.

I find what the Fins do next to be very interesting. Tua has not played particularly well - they even benched him when they needed to rally and Fitzmagic was available, so they already had him on a short leash - could and they have the #3 pick. Would they dare drafting a QB again? The Jets are up to make some big moves as well.

McLaurin scores the first opening drive points for the WFT this season.

Alex Smith makes a huge difference. They are 4-1 with Smith starting, 2-8 when another QB starts.

He's a good fit for a team with a strong defense. Not spectacular, but won't make dumb plays that get you beat.

Alex Smith is out there for the love at this point. He's not going to win a playoff game if he can't get anything on the ball, and he's struggling to move out there.

Heading into the Sunday night finale between Philadelphia and Washington, here’s where the Wild Card weekend matchups stand.

Saturday, January 9

1:05 p.m. ET, (CBS): Indianapolis Colts at Buffalo Bills

4:40 p.m. ET (FOX): Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks

8:15 p.m. ET (NBC): Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Giants-Washington winner

Sunday, January 10

1:05 p.m. ET (ESPN/ABC): Baltimore Ravens at Tennessee Titans

4:40 p.m. ET (CBS, Nickelodeon, Amazon Prime): Chicago Bears at New Orleans Saints

8:15 p.m. ET (NBC, Telemundo, Peacock): Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers

Kansas City, which locked up the No. 1 seed last weekend, will have the AFC's lone bye and homefield advantage.

Things in the NFC looked much more complicated coming into the day, but Green Bay’s win over Chicago helped clear things up at the top of the standings, as the Packers will take the No. 1 seed, a first-round bye and homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.

Already updated the other thread, but Jets FINALLY fired Adam Gase.

So far:

Looking for a crust o bread and water:
Gase.
O'Brien (who should have been fired as soon as he traded Hopkins). Rumor is he's been spotted around Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Patricia (who shouldn't have been hired to begin with - curse the Lions for firing Caldwell).

Possibly rumored on the chopping block:
Marrone in Jax, Anthony Lynn in LA, rumblings in Cincy with my guy Zac Taylor (bittersweet for me if that happens, as he's a former Husker).
