So it looks like being kicked out of the AAU might have been the correct decision given the ability of Nebraska fans to actually read an article.

The article makes it very clear that the leadership of Michigan and Wisconsin both voted against us. If you're referencing what Perlman said,

"It's not fair to say Wisconsin voted against Nebraska," Perlman told the Journal Star. "It's the president of Wisconsin, who is no longer the president of Wisconsin, and the president of Michigan."

I get what you're saying, it's not like a majority of UM and UW fans were in favor of this move.

However, both of those two women were in charge of those universities at the time, and were public representatives of their interests. Perlman said what he said to be PC, the fact of the matter is that quote is similar to saying "Germany didn't invade Poland, Hitler invaded Poland." It's a meaningless quote, because when you're the head of an organization what you decide to do is considered to be what the organization does, even if most people in it disagree with the decision.

To put it in perspective, if for some unforeseen reason Ohio State's AAU membership was ever voted on and Michigan voted against it, do you think most tOSU fans would say "Well it wasn't Michigan that voted against us, it was just their president."? Or would the more likely reaction be " Fuck scUM!!!"?

It's goddamned COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON right now. Focus.

They started playing games again? Why didn't anybody tell me it was time to start watching football?

DAMMIT! No wonder so many people head over to those easier-to-understand ESPN boards!

Chattanooga/Nebraska replay just started on BTN.

Yoiks! Don't tell Nebraska Fan. HuskerBoard is awash in the misery of suffering this victory. I reminded someone that we actually blew out our opponent and she - swear to god - said, "Do you really think 33 points is blowing someone out?"

I saw the Nebraska team I expected to see Saturday - raw, making some mistakes, but with potential. We're a work in progress. Most folks, apparently, thought we'd be a polished finished product right now.

It's the angst of unrealized expectations. They'll get over it.

I can't speak to that lady fan...again, she's a woman...what do they know about football....?

What I am hoping (and it's probably hoping against hope here), is that they were trying to run a very vanilla offense on Saturday with running that speed option game. Not saying that Martinez isn't tough, but he lacks the killer instinct to run the option. Early pitches, bad pitches, not getting the D end to commit to him.

Brion Carnes didn't help things much either. And how do you not get Jamal Turner the ball more?!? The one play I remember him touching the ball in the 4th, he almost took it to the house.

Just once, I'd like to be assured that the offense isn't going to be the bain of the team's existence....but at least we're not Notre Dame or Gay Robocop, either....

You have to remember that Beck is from Youngstown, and he's as stiff-necked as Bo and Carl (and Stoops, and everyone else from that crazy state). If you have the game recorded, go watch it again and count the number of plays we ran. I think I counted seven - for the whole game. The same seven plays, over and over and over and over and over. Why? Because Beck wanted the guys to get work in on them. Stiff neck, but it's good, solid practice.

If you notice, despite eight and nine guys in the box all game, we never once threw over the top to make the secondary back off. No screen passes, no passes out of the option, nothing. Basically Beck was putting the guys in as tough a situation as he could and making them work. And they needed it - our blocking was inconsistent, we had several dropped passes, and overall it was about a 'C' effort from the offense.

I don't know what happened to Brion. He's better than that. I have to chalk that up to first-game jitters. I got a chance to watch three practices this year in Fall Camp, and both he and Taylor looked way better than they showed Saturday - although it's hard to gripe too much about Taylor, since he broke off a couple more long runs and actually had a decent day passing, when you factor in those drops.

It was the first game I expected - kinda ugly, flashes of good things here and there, but overall much work to do.

No quite frankly it doesn't.

It makes it very clear that both institutions had conflict with Nebraska in the past & that Perlman extrapolated that into a conspiracy theory that they had gone against Nebraska in the AAU vote as well.

It does however explicitly state that the actual votes are not known. that B1G presidents unanimously voted for Nebraska's membership into the conference & that the Wisconsin chancellor specifically mentioned Nebraska's AAU membership as a factor in her decision to vote for their membership.

Nebraska knew exactly what was needed to maintain AAU membership & the University leadership failed to do what was necessary to achieve that goal. Perhaps actually making large strides towards meeting the criteria that was laid out would have been a better strategy than going in at the eleventh hour & complaining about said criteria & how unfair it is.

Please don't turn into the new Penn State...they've made an art out of whining over the past 15 years. The last thing the conference needs is another group of fans who see everything as a vast conspiracy meant to keep them down.

Wouldn't it have been wise to make Martinez throw the ball in a live-game situation, given his lack of success in doing so last year, especially at the end of the year?

Here, here. The last thing the Big Ten needs is another whining fanbase, and the lingering sentiment about the aTm game from last year and the Texas game the year before don't exactly inspire a great deal of confidence for my hope.

Kindly explain what strides needed to be made, what changes were made by Nebraska, and how those fell short.

When you can't do so in any kind of detail whatsoever, go ahead and apologize for talking out of your ass.

Or not. Up to you.
