Nebraska Cornhuskers (corn)

It's been fun watching the Nebraska fans on their emotional roller coaster ride this season. Of course, now that they've had their first win over a top 10 team this century, they're going to win all the rest of their games. A week ago they weren't going to win any.

Hopefully Iowa goes in there and pounds 'em to end their season and their bowl hopes.

Actually - Bo beat #7 Missouri into submission in 2010.
Many around here would like Riley to go 2-0 against top 10 teams this year (hint, hint, Iowa).

Only problem is, he's got to play Rutgers first. Then he's going up against the 17000,000000 time B1G COY.

So he did. I see he also beat #9 MSU in 2011. I was misinformed. I've seen the claim that this was Nebraska's biggest win since 1997. Maybe it was all just fan overreaction.

I doubt that Rutgers has an upset in 'em but if they pulled it off then the meltdown in Husker Nation would be epic.

I'd say it was the most exciting win in the last few years. Only because of the number of losses (5) by a total of 13 points combined. And the fact of all the turmoil that happened after the Purdue loss last week.

EDIT: If Riley loses to Rutgers after knocking Sparty off, it will indeed be a meltdown of epic proportions. You'll have to declare the entire state of Nebraska off limits with a half-life of about 30,000 years.

Photo: Nebraska Wide Receiver Brandon Reilly Stiffed Waiter Who Bashed The Huskers

Nebraska finished a disappointing 5-7 in its first regular season under Mike Riley, but players aren’t going to let upset fans walk all over them. Junior wide receiver Brandon Reilly went out to eat today, and encountered a server who wanted to rant about the Huskers, apparently not realizing who was sitting at the table. Rather than tip “Trey,” Reilly left him a note.

Reilly pulled down the tweet after catching some heat.

He needs to be more observant to not putting his signature out online....dumbass.

Agreed. I've had waiters make comments about OSU shirts I wear when I'm in Cincinnati. They get no tip. It would be much worse if what they said amounted to a personal attack, however unintentional.

Yeah, I'm totally with you. Not that I've had wait staff ever do this, but it takes me back when a total stranger will start a crap-convo with me because I'm wearing something tOSU. Whatever... In this case, good for the kid.

Where in the heck do you go? I grew up there and never once had anyone say a word to me. Well, the TTUN and ND "fans" that chose their team based on being different or religious preference say stuff, but what do you expect from those fan bases?

NCAA: 5-7 teams can get bowl bid … if grades good enough

Nebraska says that it will go bowling if invited despite losing record, but head coach Mike Riley and his staff won't cash in on the decision.

However, Nebraska senior associate athletic director David Witty confirmed Monday night that athletic director Shawn Eichorst met with Riley and decided not to pay bowl bonuses outlined in the coaches' contracts. The Omaha World-Herald first reported the decision. Riley's contract calls for him to be paid a $150,000 bonus if in a bowl outside the College Football Playoff. Including assistants, Nebraska would have paid $435,000 in bonuses.
