Nebraska -3.5 at Penn St (ov/un 43.5) Sat Noon ET, ESPN (maybe)

There it is. :slappy: barely made it past 10 posts.

Is there actually a solid rumor this could be forfeited?

I assume if the unrest in crappy valley continues, the football game could be postponed or cancelled for safety concerns. I wouldn't put it past the administration to do that, and I anticipate that they will attempt to keep the football program/athletic department from gaining anywhere close to the amount of power they had before the scandal. So they may be looking for any excuse they can come up with to cancel it.

The NCAA should let the players transfer without losing eligibility.

They cannot postpone the game. Either Nebraska or Penn State could conceivably win out and earn a berth in the championship game on 12/3, one week after both NU and PSU finish their seasons. Neither team has a bye week, so it's not as if you could simply move it to then. This game has large ramifications on about a dozen bowl games, if not more. It's got to be played or forfeited.

It is highly unlikely that Penn State will forfeit. What is more likely is the game getting moved to a neutral site, away from Happy Valley. That will ONLY happen if the "riots" we saw last night continue on tonight and tomorrow night, and/or get worse.

You are correct, of course, and I was wrong. I'm still not used to having a conference championship game. I would not put it past the BoT to consider the forfeit, but that would probably make the students reaction worse. Regardless, if you are a Nebraska fan going to this game, be careful.

Let's be real here.

Anybody that thinks that Joe Paterno has actively coached a game and not been a figurehead since the early 2000s is mistaken.

Tom Bradley has probably been the real coach for a long time.

edit: Some idiot reporter just asked Bradley, "Any confirmation that the team will be playing after Saturday?"

WTF kind of question is that?!?

I think there is a lot of people (me being one of them) that think they should shut it down for the rest of the year. Hell, their fucking locker room is a crime scene...

Logistically, I just don't think you can do that. They still have to play you guys and Wisconsin. They're still atop their division right now. Nobody is going to forefit millions of dollars like that.

Why? Because their school got embarrassed? Their coach got fired? This isn't the first time such things have happened.

I guarantee none of those people run Penn State, the Big Ten, the TV networks with contracts for Big Ten games, the bowls with tie-ins to the Big Ten...

A bunch of 'interims' run PSU at the moment.

If you can't ensure safety on your own campus, I disagree...We'll have to see today and tonight if they have more riots. And the Westboro people coming to town? Just not sure if there are people in place to do these jobs in the next few days. The organization has been decapitated...
