Neal Shipley - ex tOSU golfer, now touring pro

Shipley currently in the clubhouse tied for the lead at the LECOM Suncoast Classic on the Korn Ferry Tour after Round 4. If he ends up winning, he's projected to jump up the 4th on the points list. Looks like one player is a stroke behind with 2 holes to play, so he'll get 3rd at worst. Hope he gets the win.

Question for the group. See that top 20 money winners get a card for 2026. Does that include an exemption from Q school? Thought one needed to qualify through Q school, and to maintain the card, one needed to pocket $125,000 or more in a year. (my info might be a tad old, given the purses today). So, is the KF exemption in addition, or replacing, or simply another avenue to get on tour? Thanks in advance. Any info on the other Buckeye star? (memory is kinda dim here as well).

Excuse my ready, fire, aim posture. To maintain one's PGA card, you have to be in the top 125 MONEY WINNERS, not win $125,000. Not sure whether has changed or not, but it's a relative thing, not an absolute one. My bad. Heck, packing for a major winner could qualify a caddy (most are pretty good stickers, by the way), for a card....

I think they’re changing it to top 100, which is brutal.

There’s a new threshold for the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour season, and the race for PGA TOUR cards will bring heightened drama across the 26-event campaign.

The top 20 players on the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour Points List will earn 2026 PGA TOUR membership, with the season-long standings finalized after the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance in mid-October. This update was approved by the PGA TOUR Policy Board last fall, with additional updates to the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour competitive structure relayed in a memo to Korn Ferry Tour players.

For the previous two seasons (2023 and 2024), the top 30 finishers on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List earned PGA TOUR membership. This change corresponds with the PGA TOUR’s reduction from 125 to 100 exempt cards via the FedExCup Fall standings, and it will offer Korn Ferry Tour graduates expanded access to PGA TOUR Full-Field Events.

Thanks, Script. This 'side door' approach will certainly benefit 20 players from KF tour. Have been away for awhile, but have stated that the Q school is the most brutal tournament these young people have participated in. Plenty of pressure, not for cash, but for the hallowed few that qualify for a tour card. Then, I suppose, the Q school and KF players get thrown into the mix, where to 'maintain' their cards, they've gotta perform on Tour. Make enough bucks to qualify for next year's card. Hard way to make a living. PS, there's miles of difference between a great college sticker, and a bottom rung golf pro on the tour. Would like to see some statistics on how many survive to become bona fide competitors on the pro tour. Anyone remember the 'rabbit' tour? These are the players that qualify on Tuesday for some open spots on the weekly tour, after the top 125 'get in', then the sponsors exemptions, etc. Seems like there are many more players of a higher quality then days of yesteryear. But, great job to Neal. Hopefully would like to see him play in person, but nothing within a four-five hour drive from where I live. Always wonder how come Cincinnati or Columbus doesn't have a tour stop on the schedule.....Go Bucks!

And so the mandala turns. No longer based on bucks, but on points. Guess garnered by where one finishes in tournaments. And see from Script's post, that no longer the top 125 money winners, but the top 100 'points', with Korn Ferry getting 30 exempt status cards. Would be interesting to see how many KF tour people maintain their cards after two or three years. Seem to recollect seeing some big names trying to get their cards back by qualifying at Q school. I know that our course held a regional qualifier for Q school, several years ago, and word was that lots did not come here, as the course wasn't that easy. Heck, I could have told them that.
