And just how was the "pass right" report CW's fault? Funny your coach, players, fans go around talking about having the "best band in the land" and you say CWs arrogant?? How many NC's has OSU's band won??
Actually, that's "The Best Damn Band in the Land". I don't begrudge the media report on that story. It was a great story. I just think Weis comes off a little smug in a lot of interviews and such with all the reference to his SB rings. That means precisedly shit as a head coach at a major D1 program.

I have no doubt that Weis is going to continue to turn around the Irish program, and I for one am not as big an Irish hater as many other on this board. A resurrected Irish program is great for college football, and I would personally love to see the rivalry between tOSU and the Irish grow further. I think a lot of the resentment comes from the media lovefest that was showered on him last season for, lets face it Chief, basically just hanging tough against college footballs golden boys. Time will tell how far he takes the Irish, but I feel he is indeed the real deal.

I guess we both have coaches that other fans love to hate. Now back to OUR COACH, who now has a 1-0 lead on Mr. Weis.

As for the NFL GM's, ND beat them to it. It was widely reported that many teams were interested in him. CW was the hottest coaching prospect in the NFL at that time.

You guys have been saying that you can say CW is fat because he is, well why cant CW say one of his SB rings his worth more than all of JT's rings? Because it probably really is.....

I know you're outnumbered, and you're sticking up for your guy, but now you're taking a left turn into lala land. If you are talking actual dollar value of the rings, then yes, maybe the SB ring is worth more. If you are talking that any coach would rather win a SB than a handful of collegiate national championships, well, I guess that depends on whether said coach cares about the NFL or not. If you are saying that Weis' SB ring somehow makes him more valuable than Tressel, you are delusional, because without Belichek and Romeo, Charlie has squat. He has officially won 9 games as a head coach, and none against a team that had any kind of a decent season...you will not get ANYONE to say he is a "Top 10 HEAD coach" on the basis of that one year, regardless of what you say. Trumpet his offensive genius all you want, but he is now just as responsible for the defensive product on his field as he is the offense.

GREAT POST!! But I am still waiting to hear when OSU actually won a band championship. And yet CW is arrogant....

Yes, JT has a 1-0 lead!!! Gotta give it to JT on that one.

Well, nobody has stepped up to challenge them for the title of "The Best Damn Band In The Land" yet, so....there you go. If you've ever had the pleasure of seeing them perform live, you would realize it is an earned arrogance.:wink2:

Wrong OSU's band never EARNED that title ! Now that is arrrogance. Besides I have been told that there are many very good bands out there. Sorry but I just dont get the whole band thing.

Well, that's an argument for another thread. Yes, there are many other great bands out there, but ours is the one known as TBDBITL.
Athlon Sports' 10 Greatest Football Traditions
1. Ohio State's "Dotting of the i"
2. Texas A&M's Bonfire
3. Army-Navy Game
4. Notre Dame's Victory March
5. Michigan's Helmets (stolen from Princeton)
6. Texas-OU Weekend
7. Notre Dame-USC Game
8. The Stanford-Cal Axe
9. The Wishbone
10. The Tournament of Roses

As I said, if you've ever had the opportunity to see them live, you'd get it. Now back to Coach Tressel...

Wrong again, yes the "I" is a great tradition but it has nothing to do with the best band. NOTHING...

And as I have said before bands are not part of TV Halftime for a reason.

Chief, for goodness sakes, don't start this nonsense again. You made your point, leave it alone, you're not going to sell us.

Weis WAS arrogant. He made statements about his SuperBowl rings. His entire demeanor prior to the Fiesta Bowl and since has been dismissive. In his most recent interviews, he makes these dismissive statements such as "well, you've got to give Ohio State credit too". Absolute nonsense. He didn't just get beat, he got embarrassed in the Fiesta Bowl and then he dropped that in his players laps for the most part.

I sincerely hope we get a rematch this year.

There's a lot of expectations about what Weis coached teams can do. Maybe he will make that turnaround. Maybe he won't, we'll just see. One thing is for sure, he's not gonna sneak up on anyone and his arrogance will help make sure that Notre Dame gets every team's best shot.

You don't get it, do you? How many times do coaches talk up their own philanthropy at their post game press conferences?! ZERO -- Except, of course, in the case of Charlie Weis. What Charlie did was something that every single D1A coach has done. EVERY SINGLE ONE.

So, what does the coach say when presented with the following at the post game press conference:

Q: "Coach, that was a pretty questionable play call down there coming out of the end zone. Why'd you go with that?"

116 D1A Coaches would've said this: "Well, we saw such-and-such in their defensive alignment and figured it might work" or "It was a gut feeling" or "The QB misinterpreted our signal"

1 D1A Coach said this: "Well, a little dying boy called that play, and dammit, we ran it. By the way, even though his mother is still grieving about the loss of her only son, who she buried at the age of eight just three days ago, I'm sure she can't fucking wait to have 200 cameras shoved in her face to talk about the ordeal and mention what a wonderful human being I am. Brady and I would be happy to sit down with any of you to talk about this. Just ask our SID for her contact information and you can go talk to her too, I'm sure she can't wait."

You should stick to the point NDC, because everything else beyond your first line was just an attempt at deflection. Arrogance of our band? That's called pride. Whoring yourself and the memory of a dead boy out to the media for 15 minutes of face time on College GameDay is arrogance.

The season must be getting close.

I start to read a thread about JT and find ND chump in a completely indefensible position and doing his best Chewbacca defense as he backpeddles wildely. Some things never change.

BTW he started this same shit after the Bowl game when I called Weiss a fat mfer. He's sensitive on this topic.

And as I have said before bands are not part of TV Halftime for a reason.

Their actually being the best band has to do with being the best.

The reason why bands aren't part of the TV halftimes anymore is greed on the networks' part. Their "Halftime Shows" allow them to break to commericials more often than if they were showing a band's performance.

And as I have said before Charlie Weiss is a part of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade for a reason.

I'd give you rep again if I could. Hit the nail on the head! If he really wanted to do this kid's memory some good, he would have kept the promise silent. Period. He's too busy trying to pretend his way into the Knute Rockne era!
