ND/Weis various topics

Weis is probably out of touch w/arch. demands: One of Nick Mangold's main problems as arch. student was attending team "lab"-type classes that conflicted with his football practice schedule. The lad couldn't be in two places at one time. Labs in late afternoon, early evening, where several students comprised a team to interface and conduct projects. Least that's what I recall from VL's comments.

Weis' emerging character does feature a "ready-fire-aim" personality when responding to off-cuff questions...or so it seems. And, so far, I haven't even mentioned that Chuck looks overweight. Fat chance!

The original story. Regardless, don't mark me down as a Charlie Weiss believer or fan. I didn't like him in the first place and the media only infatuated my disdain for him.

No skin off my back either way.

I disliked him while he was in NE due to negative experiences with him by folks I know.

He'll be successful at ND, but when his fall comes it will be spectacular.

It's already started. Yesterday ESPN made a huge frickin' deal about Clausen commiting to ND, the only big-name commit they've even mentioned so far this year, let alone having a segment for.
Yeah, they have it on espn.com. Thankfully I knew better then to watch it.
Even our latest jersey-wearing fan, Golic, had to mention it on the radio this morning for everyone to hear. He must have talked about it for 2-3 minutes, how Clausen is the CLEAR #1 QB not only this year but in some time. Blah, blah, blah.....

However, I have to remind myself sometimes that ND does walk on water.

Carroll and USC has been replaced with the Weis/ND even after the ass-kicking in the Fiesta Bowl.

Clausen may not even be the #1 QB in this years class.

Plus, SportsCenter ran a fairly lengthy segment on their spring game. I didn't see any coverage of ours (unless I just missed it).

The morning of the game they had a little info on it, just talking about our young defense. They failed to correctly mention how many wins we had last year, they said we only had 9 when we had 10.

But its ESPN, what can you expect....good reporting???

The Clausen-to-ND angle goes both ways.

On the one hand, Jimmy Clausen is a great talent and has been widely considered the best QB among all of his family. It's a great sign for Notre Dame and a tremendous addition to a recruiting class that could be rolling in another month or two.

On the other hand, when your best recruit is a Clausen ... :slappy:

Anyway, no ill will towards Jimmy, good for him for deciding to go somewhere other than Knoxville, where Charlie Weis can mold him into a Top-10 pick.
