NCAA - slowly ruining football (rules changes - merged)

They demonstrated all season that their definition of a defenseless WR was any player in the air.

Forget the constant expulsions for hitting a WR who curls up or simply gets hit in an inconvenient manner. The really fun stupidity will be when RBs lead with their helmets like they always do and the defender gets expelled for targeting the head, even though the start of the tackle was aimed squarely at their stomach.

At some point we need kids to sign waivers saying they are playing a violent sport. Are we going to be banning the constant head hits that linemen get snap after snap? They've proven that soccer players suffer more brain damage from constant headers vs big hits/concussions in football. I would imagine that same principle applies to the big uglies.

B1G taking a very, very aggressive stance on targeting this year. This rule change is going to be rolled out to all NCAA Football, but the rules team within the Big 10 said fans should "prepare for ejections"

Seems like this is really going to screw some teams over.
Of course I would have loved this last year when Quinton Dials absolutely blasted Aaron Murray in the SEC Championship game.

I think this has been targeted by the conference since the Kyle Jefferson hit a few years ago.

Is that Brad Nessler, Bob Griese and Paul Mcguire? ABC does stand for always bad coverage, doesn't it?

Why does the QB never get criticized for leading his receiver into hits like this? If you watch the replay that starts at 0:39, you can see Warrick just sitting back waiting to put a lick on any receiver who crosses the middle. Helmet to helmet is one thing, and Warrick definitely went high, but the QB put his WR in a really bad situation with that throw.

The thing that will frustrate fans the most, is the inability to correctly call it. Refs already miss enough calls. They are way too overzealous whenever a receiver takes a big shot, legal or not under the new rules.

I can't wait for an Ohio State player to get ejected on a clean play. And again, outside of letting a guy catch the football, I'm still not sure what the defense is supposed to do?

This is my frustration with the rule too. I can see it being applied in situations outside of defenseless player. I wonder how quickly it will be applied to a special teams scenario.

No idea whatsoever on what you're talking about. All refs get it right all the time.

Then again, it is the U where they train people to maim, murder and cause mayhem.
