NCAA punishes USC - Reggie Bush, OJ Mayo, Dwayne Jarrett, Joe McKnight investigation

So you think Jarrett and USC should be punished twice? From my recollection, Troy Smith received the improper benefit before the 2004 season. The violation was not discovered by tOSU until December 2004. Yet tOSU did not have to forfeit the games Troy Smith participated in during the 2004 season.

It is my recollection that Smith got his improper bennefit after the Michigan game 04. I could be mistaken, but that's what I remember... and not that it changes much of anything you said, Thomps.

you are mistaken, just like most of the nation... b/c it was not reported very clearly. Smith's handshake happened before the 04 season.

This post is for Methomps.

Best of luck to you and all your friends at USC.

I feel your pain. It's no fun having to defend the program that you love.

These free (or reduced price) housing situations that USC players are obviously getting just stink to high heaven.

If the Men Of Troy come out of this unscathed, it will be magical.

You are probably right though about Jarrett being punished twice by my scenario. How about this. He should only be suspended for 2006. After all, the Reggie Bush violation will take care of the forfeiture of all of last season's games anyway.

There are you happy now?

Good news though. You could always just start rooting for the Buckeyes!
Actually, you spend enough time on this message board to already be a Buckeye fan when you get right down to it. Welcome aboard the Buckeye Bandwagon methomps! The Buckeyes have learned their lesson. Now it's time for the Trojans to learn their's.

There's all kinds of ways to violate the rules. USC's violations don't have to be mirror images of the Buckeyes violations. The Pac Ten and NCAA and BCS will decide what any violations might be. I don't think you (methomps) have a voice in any of those entities. Maybe you do. But somehow I doubt it. The decision is out of my hands. The decision is out of your hands.

I don't want to argue about it because frankly, I view the 2006 USC Trojans as an eventual also ran. The Trojan's had their run and it's over for a while. Brand new QB. Brand new RB's. A defense coming back that wasn't anything special last year. USC is last year's Oklahoma most likely or 2004's Ohio State. You'll have to come to grips with that at some point soon. Maybe the Pac Ten is weak enough that the Trojans can take a step back and still win it. Wouldn't that be nice for you?

Hey methomps!

Smile buddy! The sun will rise tomorrow and this will someday be history.

But Damn! I sure wouldn't want to be a USC fan right now!

Have a great NCAA investigation season! You'd think the parent's of players would know better. Maybe Petey should be educating the parents as well as the players (he probably already does as a requirement). Bush's and Leinart's parent's should have known better than to pull the big dollar stunt's they've pulled. But heck since they had raised future NFL superstars who were about to be millionaires maybe these parents thought for some reason they were above scrutiny and above the rules. They should have known better and the probably did but just didn't care. Rich people always seem to think they are above the rules. Something to ponder I guess.

Don't forget to smile!

Methomps, paint whatever picture you want. As an outside observer the allegations over the past two weeks do not pass the sniff test. If something smells rotten its probably because it is. The media will enjoy ripping you guys down as much as they enjoyed building you up. No malice intended, just my opinion. By the way, do you think that BCS officials may have had a heads up this was coming. Quick reaction time. I would imagine if Reggie was sleeping for free in a house paid for by a marketing agent that a few rules were shattered. Do you suppose Jarrett hosted recruits in a house paid for by a parent/booster. "See what they do for you at USC". No sympathy when percs are 5 figures and up. Give us a break. Somebody should ask the question if Matt's father could afford this appt. Most parents of college kids probably could not.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess you didn't believe in the "if it smells rotten it's probably because it is" theory when Clarett was throwing his shit out for ESPN to gobble up.

i understand that there are plunty of other scools under the microscope also, but they have been on us for a couple of years now. i think they finally found out that there was nothing here, but lies and moved on.

the only reason i said scUM is becuase i just dont like them, i dont like the school, the state, the people, i dont like to be driving down I-75 and see a michigan plate on the road. it was just someone else to say, because i could!

BuckeyeNation. The answer to your question is that most people from Youngstown knew what MoC was all about. Troy's allegations were troubling. If you didn't have a clue about MoC during the first Fiesta Bowl when he called Geiger a liar than you missed the hint of things to come.
