NCAA punishes USC - Reggie Bush, OJ Mayo, Dwayne Jarrett, Joe McKnight investigation

dan patrick said on his show today that according to the papers in vegas paris hilton and matt leinart are an item. not really relevant but interesting.
Then it's official, Matt Leinart, Wonderlic test results be damned, is the dumbest college football player of the last 10 - 15 years.

He turns down going to the 49ers as the 1st pick in 2005 to return to school, in essence, paying $10M to take Ballroom Dancing for a year at USC.

Now, Paris Hilton? :sick1:

Leinart is now a multi millionaire, a pro athlete, and a celebrity. He could drive down any street in LA and pick just about any hottie he wants ... and he's choosing Paris Hilton?

... I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

As I said, I have no personal malice towards USC. I would find it hard to believe that ESPN is not setting its sites on USC and the second largest television market in the country. I really do not wish that upon any school. USC fans should realize that the dollar amounts in the accusations are going to attract major attention. To BuckeyeNation that phrase has always been in my vocabulary, I just knew shit when I heard it. What I really appreciated was how JT and Gieger asked for a complete NCAA investigation and were proactive in their dealings with student athletes. We will see how PC handles this.

I thought some may find this interesting. It is a list apparently compiled by a UCLA fan of "the available information regarding the scandal, criminality, investigations, embarrassing incidents and other assorted black eyes that have plagued USC since Pete Carroll's tenure began five years ago." This is eye-opening, IMO.

Not really. It's just the sad reality of college football in today's society. You know JT runs a good, clean program. You also know that if a Michigan fan did a similar list for tOSU, the list would be just as long as or longer than USC's.

Yeah, but no Michiagn fan would want to do that, because the list we'd compose about Michigan would be longer than OSU's and USC's combined.

Don't forget that almost all of those players said that their words were taken out of context and twisted to fit an agenda that ran counter to what the players themselves intended.

Yeah, you know that, and I know that, but did the average USC fan know that? Especially right when that story was released? My whole point is, we do NOT know the whole story right now, and I don't understand why Buckeye fans are so anxious to throw USC under the bus, considering all the shit we went through. If these rumors are substantiated, and/or more stuff comes out, then hell, pile on...but until then, I don't understand the animosity.

Every Division 1 program of note is always just a moment away from an event such as Bush that rocks the program. Right now, USC has a lot of apparent issues and some of this stuff looks bad for them. Remembering that they were penalized as recently as a few years ago, we should be remembering that it could be any Big Ten school, including us, that is next.

We are talking about young people that often come from very economically-disadvantaged backgrounds and who have not had role models from which they could have learned how to handle their fame. There are many temptations and many hucksters trying to convince them to do things that they should not do.

That one athlete should give in to that temptation, out of hundreds in a major conference, should not surprise us. However, although we understand, it does not mean that the individuals involved should not be punished or that their teams should not be required to forfeit wins, etc.

Maurice Clarett should be an example to all. The downside is WAY down there!
