NCAA Investigation into Indiana Basketball Program

I hate to see this crap happening anywhere in the Big Ten, but now that it has I just wished it was made public before IU played at Illinois.

Hell, I wish our students had the chance to, in unison, wave their cell phones at him chanting "cheater...cheater" for the entire game.

Unfortunately, @ MSU is the only tough away venue that he has left. Too bad the B10 tourney wasn't in Chicago anymore because I have a feeling that ushers in Indy will be told to crack down hard on any visiting fans that try to harass Sampson.

And the comparisons to what UM is doing with RR (selling out to a "win at all costs" coach with character issues) are startling.

Agreed. There's a big difference between a pompous jackass with questionable morals and a pompous jackass that has been outed as a cheater multiple times.

IU alum friend seems to think it's 50-50: either they O'Brien him this afternoon or whack him at the end of the season. Either way, he says Sampson's gone. It'll be interesting to get his reaction if the IU administration lets him off the hook...again.

A little stroll through the Purdue Rivals board...good times...good times.

I have to admit, the IU board is pretty sensible. They've turned on Sampson big time and just want him gone as soon as possible. It took them awhile, but kudos for ultimately seeing the need to whack a coach who took you back to the top 10.

Yeah, the IU fans are about as quick as this guy:

Husband sleeps with dead wife

In this day and age, I'll take what I can get. I'm damn sure that had the NCAA came back with major violations against JT, we would have had a huge segment of our fanbase in essence saying, "I don't care; I just want a winner; 2002 NC." That being said, I do believe that Geiger and Holbrook would have done the right thing, and JT would still have been fired.

Luckily for us, we--individually or collectively as a fanbase--weren't put in the position of having to choose sides on that issue.

Indy Star has hosted the letter to IU and the attachment of allegations. Both are PDF files.

Wonder whose name is redacted (possibly to preserve privacy) in the latter?
The first letter of the first name starts with either a B, P, or R. Possibly a D, but I don't think so.

So, sadly given what it means the state of college sports are, I must ask the first question that pops into my head after reading this thread, and that is:

"Which school will hire him next?"

Someone trying to move up in the A-10 or MW, conferences that can often times get 2 bids?

A bottom-feeder in a major conference such as Virginia, Florida State, Colorado, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, South Florida, Rutgers, Oregon State, or LSU? LSU does need a new coach, and the NC the football team won and the reminders of the Dale Brown era put some pressure on the AD to win now.

Sadly, I don't think it will even take a year, if he gets axed, he will be hired somewhere for next season.
