2025 NC OL David Sanders Jr. (Tennessee Verbal)

Friend, you need to stop thinking about things with Ohio State glasses on. To say something as absurd as "there was no reason for UT here" is as ridiculous as saying nobody should have ever chosen us over Bama. These aren't robots, they're people who are allowed to make decisions that don't have Ohio State's best interests in mind.
What does UT have that we don’t?

I’ve heard UT recruited him harder and offered 1.4mil according to Birm.

Money is money… if we couldn’t match then don’t bother to begin with. However being out recruited again with zero back ups is just not excusable.

This OL better freaking knock people off the ball this year or Frye is really on thin ice.

Sometimes kids have preferences.

Sometimes kids make decisions we, as fans, won't understand.

And that's before we get into the whole NIL stuff.

I hate this friggin saying.

The days of the offensive line getting 5 yard pushes for the running game are essentially over. Everyone, other than the triple option teams and crappy offenses like Iowa, are using a zone running game as their primary running attack scheme. Even when they don't, they are using counters and wrap-type blocking which, again, isn't "knocking people off the ball" as fans like to say.

Some people will pick a corn dog over filet mignon.
Haha… I have to admit.

A good hot dog imo beats a bad steak.

Anyways, my point is I don’t have an issue with not landing top 5 star kids if we can develop them and churn out great lines. Right now I’m not sure Frye fits that mold either.

Something has to give. Either we start landing elite kids or start developing them like crazy when they get here as projects. We’ll see how we do this year. If the on field product is great then who cares.

I’ve been thinking more about it. In this era, I’m fine with 50% of our OL coming from portal transfers. But we still need developable guys who get developed as well. But there should be no excuses this year. We have some depth issues but quality at most spots. This season and the next TP cycle are make or break for Frye

I dont understand how this model is sustainable. Someone gives this kid almost 4 million dollars and a house for his parents for what? Their favorite football team is a little better? How is that money making money?
This has been going on forever though. It's just now above board, and the people who were worried about doing it the "cash in duffel bag" way, are comfortable with making an online payment. It was a good point of the types in The Bagmen story years ago. These people have the disposable income set aside and spend. Local business owners who want to brag about landing a big fish over OSU, UGA, etc

100% this. I don't expect to land every Sanders of the world, but I do expect to win this one when there are zero contingency plans other than hoping for some portal transfers to pop up. After missing Sanders, we have zero and I repeat zero realistic targets at the position. Maybe that changes, but there's roughly 3 months until the early signing period and I don't see that changing other than some Plan B/C guys to fill out the OL class.

I am usually Mr. Optimist but its tough not to be honest after missing Sanders.
