NBC Comedy: The Office, Parks & Recreation, 30 Rock, Community

It's just gotten so bizarre, really since Sabre took over. The Robert California plotline was beyond weird, and I'm glad to see him go. Next on the chopping block should be Nellie and Gabe. It's impossible to get this show back to what it was with Michael Scott, but that'd at least be a step in the right direction.

I still watch it, but the whole Andy being fired and trying to get his job back, then dressing up like a janitor, I had to flip the channel because it just felt forced and awkward to me.

Not to mention it's basically a complete ripoff of the Michael Scott Paper Company story line.

Agreed 100%. Robert is the worst...he literally has never made me laugh once and is just annoying. The only character that is worse is Nellie and it's beyond me why Gabe is still even around? He was only supposed to be there because of Joe (also weird) and everyone universally hates his character. The characters they have been introducing have been mind-knumbingly unintriguing and not comical in the slightest. I feel like almost all the storylines of any interest are done. Nix Robert, Nellie, and Gabe (preferably in one giant fatal and fiery accident), and stick with bringing David Wallace back. Always loved his character and this is a step in the right direction.

The Office's executive producer Greg Daniels is back at the helm and started dropping big announcement bombs. The most important: that the NBC comedy will end after its upcoming ninth season.

Say what? We'll let you process that for a second. OK, ready?

Why is the Peacock net closing shutting down The Office? And what can you expect in this final season from your favorite Dunder Mifflin crew?

Last Hurrah: Daniels—who adapted the British sitcom for NBC and served as showrunner for the first five seasons—is back to give The Office the perfect sendoff. "This year feels like the last chance to really go out together and make an artistic ending of the show," Daniels says.

Brass Tax: The Office has some high-class problems, with big names like Ed Helms, Rainn Wilson and John Krasinski among the cast. Daniels admits that it would have been difficult to retain all the stars past season nine:http://www.eonline.com/news/fashion"If we didn't let it end this year, I don't know that we would have been able to tell the ending stories for so many characters."

Pam and Jim: Daniels calls the lovebirds"the heart and soul of the show." And since the early days he's had an idea of how he'd like to see their story end. "To look at the possibility of that never happening was a compelling thing to try to grab." Pam (Jenna Fischer) and Jim shippers, we have a feeling this season will be for you.

Wrap-Up: The overarching storylines like the Scranton Strangler will be addressed in the show's final season. Plus, long time fans will be rewarded with a look at the film crew who is still making a documentary after all this time. But Daniels isn't taking the easy way out: "Now that we have an end date we can blow up things and take some chances."

Full Circle: Daniels announced that we would see 15 veteran members of The Office return in the final season. And he's even trying to get Ken Kwapis, who directed the pilot, to direct the final episode.

Old Home Week: The biggest question mark is if Michael Scott (Steve Carell) will return in the final season. While Daniels would love to have Carell back on set, he isn't tying them to that ending. "I think for [Steve], he really loved how he was exited, and probably is anxious about not messing up such a stylish exit—so that's a perfectly legitimate point," Daniels explains.

The Office's final season will premiere on Sept. 20 at 9 p.m.

Love "The Office" but I'm glad it's ending. The show has had a steady decline over the past few years. Can't wait to see this season though, as it sounds like it could get back to the roots of what made that show the best comedy in seasons 2 and 3

How so? The brief references to Michael Scarn were funny, the episode dedicated to it was awful. I don't have high hopes for the strangler.

I'm not sure what is worse, the writer feigning shock at the show running its course or the notion that we will finally get a season devoted to romance. They haven't been that at all :roll1:

The office limped on 3-4 seasons too long while 30 rock is going out as strong as ever.

Hopefully that leaves room for parks and community to live on for at least a few more years.

I really think the high point was Jim and Pam's wedding. To me it kind of went downhill after that.
It started fading long before that. There's been an occasional good episode since, but they were few and far between...though I did stop watching regularly in Season 7, and only saw 2-3 episodes from last year (all of which I thought were dreadful).
