In the intro for the Finals, ABC/ESPN shows clips of past basketball greats and teams. That's fine, I'm all for history.
But on Michael Jordan's hand-switching move against the Lakers, where Marv Alberts called it "a spectacular move", they changed the path of the ball for their video for some strange reason. MJ banked it in using his left hand, and the Finals intro video was edited to look like the ball swished without hitting the board.
Such egregious alteration of history while trying to honor history just [censored]es me off. Those bastards have no shame.
Sorry to take this further off topic (who cares about the actual topic in this thread anyway
)...I know what you're describing is such a minor detail but it's seriously pathetic they would do that. That's not a minor change that would casually happen in editing the video. Someone consciously decided it would be better if they edited out the finish.
A few years ago when poker was just starting to get ridiculously popular on ESPN, they would sometimes make up hands if the camera missed them or it made for a better story. It wasn't on any of the major hands so they thought it would slide through. The players involved of course called ESPN out, ESPN apolgized (quietly) and said they wouldn't do that any more.
